So you're saying a guy can't be a platonic friend to a girl (even one as hot as Vanilla) unless he's in a crowd? Or is this just you, speaking for all maledom?

Unless there's a friendzone situation or the woman is fugly, then any plans made between one guy and one woman are generally going to be seen one way.

If you make plans to hang out with a guy all alone, there is only one way they interpret that.

Um like all the time I do this because I've had a lot of guy friends. Yes quite a few wanted a piece of me but they all got shut down. I had maybe 5 guys that didn't want to get with me and were just my friend. My current bff J we will call him was wanting a relationship but he understands that I don't feel that way and we carried on as normal. He even sleeps in my bed if he stays over. On a related note, J took me to a party and there was a really cute guy there that looked like Jonathan Rhys Meyer. He didn't really pay much attention to me sob.Apparently he's shy/quiet to start with around new people but I think I wasn't his cup of tea. Oh yeah I forgot to mention I broke up with my boyfriend.

If he "hangs out" you know what I'll do with it? Pull it off and staple it to his head.

Well I guess friend zoning is more common that I thought.

i didn't have a hell date but i did have a "clearly we're friends and not lovers" date with a friend once.

we were both single on valentine so we agreed to spend it together and by the end of it, we knew for sure there was no love chemistry there.

I'm just gonna take a stab in the dark and say that you friendzoned the hell out of that guy and letting him sleep in the same bed as you is seriously ****ing with his head.

Nah. Friendzoning wasn't even a thing back then. She was just a using bitch.

I hate how the word 'friend zone' puts blame on a woman for not wanting to be with a guy, and implies she means to be vindictive. Most of the time, it's just the guy being innapropriate, or a schmuck.

It's called friendzoning because the woman is the one with the power to zone. And while the guy is certainly being an idiot by putting himself in a position where he's emotionally dependent on someone who is never going to reciprocate, they're usually too passive to be inappropriate.

And I don't know that I would say vindictive, but plenty of girls (though certainly not all) are ... selectively oblivious? They're not totally aware that they're leading on someone who's into them, but on some level they know and appreciate the attention.
