I really don't get it when people say stuff like this. I mean, you're essentially saying the guys bad side was so obvious you could tell from a mile away, and that you decided to start sleeping with him anyway. What, you were like "That guy looks like a complete ******* WELP TIME TO GO DANCE THE WILD MAMBO AND REGRET IT LATER"? People make really, really ****ty decisions on who to get with, I know, but there's a point of awfulness where you have to say "Maybe you are a really crappy judge of character?"

The converse is people who endlessly justify hateful people as being "lovely on the inside" and desperately try to convince people that actually no, Big Billy "Thugg Life" Monsanto Von Fritzl just LOOKS like a big mean violent bastard, he's actually really loyal to his friends, he just can't stand two faces!

I see, and agree with what you're saying GB. Although we never had what one would term a relationship, and I do blame Fran for quite obviously leading me on, I also realise that it was totally blind of me not to be able to see what she was doing, and even now I feel an idiot (it's the only way the idiot can get physical human contact)
I blame her, sure, but I also blame me, and if anyone says later (as many did) "Jesus man couldn't you see she was playing you for a fool?" I hang my head and say yeah I should have seen it. Much as I hate her now, and blame her, I don't blame her solely. You need to take responsibility for your bad decisions, choices and judgements.

I have an ex that I once posted about in great detail on here. (Don't search for the post, I deleted it shortly after). Her effect on my life was literally years of severe depression, for which I've been medicated twice after stressful circumstances renewed that mindset. My desire is no longer to tell everyone how horrible she is. My desire is to carry on with just not giving a ****. I know another guy who is HIV positive because of an ex. She literally ruined his life in the most horrible way I can imagine. His personality permanently changed as a result, in some very weird directions, but, again, he's now living his life as a "**** you, I'm fine" to that experience. I think if you want to rationalise holding onto a grudge like that and maintaining contact with someone who is, ultimately, a hate object, then that's an understandable (circumstances depending) but undesirable admission that you've been unable to move on and define your own terms for happiness - People in that situation are seeking validation from the other person involved, an admission or evidence in some way, that they are less happy than the person doing the hating. It's a very destructive cycle.
