If I were to compliment any woman and she returned with a version of "**** off you old perv" or even "please don't do that it makes me uncomfortable" then I would immediately stop, apologise and never do it again.

As a very tame example, I had a tendency to call Misspoptart by her real name. She PM'd me and asked me not to do that, as she preferred some anonymity online here, and I never have done since. It's all about consensual acceptance. When it isn't, then it can very much become creepy, even frightening.
