Well without sounding harsh you need to treat this like it's a job and the only real way to tackle this is drawing up a disciplined regime of study. Just decide on how many days you need to study (more is better) and once you've done this break down each study day into hours etc for example it could be 4 hours study a day for 5 days a week.
Now what's important is that you never break the study regime that you've drawn up unless you've got a damn good reason. Putting short breaks in is essential and splitting for example your daily study into say a morning shift and an afternoon shift is the way to go. Some people like to study at night, but the human brain is more fatigued at that time so stick to the day. Eating well and healthy along with a good water intake is ideal for studying, as is a reward in doing something you like doing after each study session. If you need motivation just think why you're doing this and the bank balance of your grandparents who are paying for this and expect some kind of reward in you succeeding. Listening to music whilst studying is good but I stay away from extreme metal, I used to listen to it whilst studying and in the end it kind of stressed me. Finally CB's idea of going to the local library is pretty good as long as you don't get too distracted while there, as changing your study scenario from only home for another location is a good idea as well, for example three days at home and two in the library. It's all horses for courses, but for me the above method is a tried and tested method. Also finding any nearby people studying the same course, sometimes the college will help you get in touch (depends on security I guess) can be one of the best things, as you can arrange from time to time shared study sessions.

Patient: I'm having terrible headaches...
Doctor Batlord: Well, they're about to get worse. Doctor Batlord: Now man up! I'm proscribing you ten Manowar songs a day for three weeks. Get out of my office. |

If you saw my post in the Res In Peace thread, you know that my old teacher at military school, Major Hairr just died this year. I'm doing this for me of course, and to justify all the time and money my grandfather put into my education, but I'm officially dedicating my passing these classes to Major Hairr.
Major Hairr is my daddy and Kwangtung has been ceded to him and his widow. I know that doesn't make any sense but it's everything to me at the moment. I won't fail any of them, but that man cared far more about my education than any other teacher I ever had. God what the ****? He was too young for this. I never intended to go back to that school for any reason, but I'm going to find out if they're doing some kind of memorial for him on Alumni Weekend, and if so, I'm going to be there if I have to hitchhike. Apparently they're taking donations to put a brick in the quad in his memory, and if they're still taking money for it I'm going to give him the last sixteen bucks in my wallet. I need to go back and look at whatever memorial they're setting up and just... I don't know, cry over it or put flowers or something. I'll go get an actual college degree for something---anything---just so if he's up in heaven or whatever he will be proud. He deserves that much.

I reserve the right to act like a human being when dealing with someone who keeps a katana in a classroom.
