Knives: Whacha got?
|
Are you allowed to walk around with those?
|
You can walk around with them around where I live. Strange thing is, people don't seem to take much fear in knives as they do with guns.

I've got a decent kitchen knife I use to slice vegetables btw. |
I'm not much of a knife person but a large percentage of my family lives in either West Virginia or Colorado, so they're all about the wilderness and I've seen some insane pocket knives
|
In CA only switchblades, butterfly knives, dirks, and daggers aren't allowed unless you're on a school campus or federal property, then it's a little more strict.

The crazy thing with the Kershaw is that its as effective as a switchblade without the actual mechanism. |
Went to sit down and watch Netflix the other day and I felt something hard poking me. Got up and pulled out the couch cushion and found a machete.
Yep. |

i used to have some random knives like that which i stole from walmart when i worked there (yea, i know, save the lecture, i don't do that kind of **** anymore). but they never really did come in handy except when i had to open an odd box here and there. i just thought they looked cool, i like the feel of them. i mean if you live in an urban area really a knife is not a good weapon to be carrying around a lot of the time. you basically just improve your chances of getting stabbed by carrying that kind of **** around. if you're going to get a weapon might as well get a gun.
a friend of my brother's here out in the country has a ton of knives and ****, and he has like a shotgun and a hunting rifle under his bed. he's not a violent kid or a hunter or anything like that. his redneck family just gives him weapons as christmas presents lol |
Knives. What ya got?
Just ordered my first butterfly knife. Looking forward to getting down all of the tricks and techniques.
One Gerber and a couple of Kershaws. http://i.imgur.com/fJ0K7Ek.jpg |
What do you use them for?
And I'm going to buy a decent knife to chop with, any advice? |

My daily carry for the last 2 years. Leatherman Wingman and Buck 110. Both have been extremely durable and endlessly useful. I've had a Kershaw Leek in the past like Chula's, two actually, they are by far my favorite knives, unbelievably sharp right out of the box, great sturdy and balanced spring action, but I eventually broke the tips off of both of them, my fault both times, using them for things I shouldn't have. I've stuck with the Buck 110 since, it has never been as sharp as the Kershaw Leek and is a bit clunkier in the pocket but with a thicker blade I've been able to put it through a hell of a lot more abuse over the last two years without breaking or chipping the blade (and I'm a sucker for wood handles).

I have quite a few.
My carries right now: Spyderco Endura 4 wave Spyderco Spy-DK (slipjoint) Kershaw E-Train (trainer version of Emerson CQC-6k. used for Kali classes) http://i.imgur.com/gKDkUvY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/t97c7tj.jpg?1 |
Nice. Is that Henry Rollins in your avatar?

They're legal to collect in Cali but you can't carry or sell one. (Grab a Benchmade trainer. I have one and it's just as much fun as the real thing. Although it's kinda like skydiving out of a first story window. :p:)
I've been practicing a lot the past couple of weeks and only drawn blood twice. According to the experts a super sharp knife is better than dull since the cut hurts less and heals faster since it's clean. Ok. If they say so. I've got a half dozen basic tricks I can do while not having to pay much attention. I practice a lot while watching TV. Repetition and muscle memory is key. I searched high and low for an authentic Benchmade 42 (which are considered the holy grail and have been out of production for years) but used ones sell for ridiculous prices - $500 to $800! After some research I found out that there's some dead nuts on repros being done overseas so I scored one for under $100. The thing is butter. My new favorite toy. The counterbored holes in the handles not only reduce weight but also give you anchor points for your fingers when spinning. Killer design. http://chicagosilver.com/smp/Benchma...895_800dpi.jpg Here's my newest score: http://i.imgur.com/fMZVBNr.jpg Joined a knife forum and they had a limited time deal for 100 pcs. of this custom piece with the JD logo on the handle (the forum is JerzeeDevil). This is basically a switchblade. The red button releases the blade. Price is just a hair above cost and they sell for almost twice as much for standard production runs. This is a killer re-sell piece if I ever choose to. Should have it within 2-3 weeks. |
Looks like a beauty. Switchblades are also illegal here lol.

Protech Automatic Knives for sale - Blade HQ |
Knives, forks and spoons. I've got them all. Quite an assortment of cutlery.

Automatic opens with a simple press. Assisted opening opens with some user input, the user having to put slight pressure for the knife to overcome the torsion bar or spring. Its a very small distinction, but that makes it legal or not here. |

Is this how older guys who can't afford a brand new BMW feel young again? |

P.S. I could afford a BMW if I ever wanted one. Just not my thing. |
Found one of these lying in the middle of the street last week. Best free potential crime evidence I've ever had.

You're just gonna use it to help roll blunts, aren't you? |
I've mainly been using it for cutting lengths of rope and opening beer bottles.
