Somewhat typical to these boards I also have issues with anxiety and chronic depression. Have been institutionalized for depression/suicide, put in a year of therapy and have been medicated for both but had to stop because I can't afford therapy or to refill the prescriptions anymore.

Have you shopped around? You'd be surprised how often you find a pill one place that costs out the ass, only to look someplace else and find that for no apparent reason it's far cheaper.

Or checked to see if there's a generic option?

I always assumed it was commonplace for physicians to prescribe the generic option instead of brand name meds, unless otherwise requested?

You guys underestimate how broke I actually am.

Edit: I was taking prozac, everything else I tried had side effects that weren't cool, so I'm kind of done with trying to shop around. I'm alright though, it just would have been better had I been able to ween myself off properly. Appreciate the advice though.

Yeah, I'm riding on the coattails of my mom's insurance plan until I turn 26. After that all bets are off.

Ha, same. I have another year and two months. Unfortunately my mom's insurance plan doesn't cover ****.

I've been able to find pretty expensive pills for maybe $20 a prescription. It's not just about generic options. Sometimes different pharmacies will just have different prices for no reason.

I was paying about $16/mo which sounds totally affordable in theory. But any extra funds I have after bills/food/necessities go to my dog (laugh all you want, he's a god damn prince).

Dogs are pretty damn good medicine for the mind and soul too.
