I think I do. Is it about the Japanese way of pronouncing "l"s as "r" and vice versa, so Mr N is saying "Really" in Japanese? Is that it? Do I win a prize? What do I win? Is it cash? It better be cash. It's not cash, is it...?

Is somebody impersonating me on this site? Do I have a doppelganger? Perish the thought! Today and yesterday there were entries shown here, made apparently by me, but I have not posted until now. Am I sleep-posting? No, there IS no post (other than this) and I have not added anything to the poll. So what is going on? ARRRGHHHHHH!!!!!! What was that? THAT! THERE! In the shadows ... I swear I saw something move ... THERE! THERE! Don't you SEE it?

I prefer the term geek. I always assume a nerd is somebody who is smart. I am not academically smart at all. I do enjoy geeky stuff, like Marvel movies, video games that interest me and music. I don't like to hang out with my fellow geeks much tho, since most of them that I know mostly only wanna talk about video games and movies and ****, and they happen to be socially awkward as ****.

I've been informed in the past that I'm definitely a dork rather than a nerd. (I guess because I read Victorian household & toxicology manuals and medieval bestiaries and hoard old things rather than play games/read comics and such. I think I definitely would have been a nerd in Victorian times.)
It's interesting, though-- a lot of the self-proclaimed nerds I meet tend to just be mid-20s dudebro types who are utterly indistinguishable from your garden-variety dudebros (ugh now I'm imagining a literal garden of miniature men in cargo shorts & League of Legend shirts, I hate my brain) aside from the fact that they play MMOs for several hours per day. I've dated a couple of them and it wasn't fun. I also briefly worked at a video game company as a QA tester, which was also not fun, despite what many tend to assume. When I think of nerds I think of nice, long-haired D&D-playing comic-reading renfaire types. (Speaking of D&D, has there been a thread for that yet?) There are too many different types of nerds to list, though. Horror nerds, literary nerds... *gazes wistfully over the horizon* |
