I am so sad. I feel so **** that my childhood hero has left this world. A bright light has gone out. I was pretty disappointed to see that his daughter was receiving horrible tweets that claimed to be a picture of Robin's body in a morgue. Poor thing, that's the last thing she needs. Blasted trolls. Also, he spent a lot of time with a Gorilla who became close to him and apparently the gorilla cried when the zoo keepers said Robin had died. The Gorilla can speak through sign language.

Gorillas are amazing. I would love to have the opportunity to connect with an animal like that.

He also contributed financially to charities supporting the lives and well being of monkeys, apes, chimpanzees and gorillas.

Saw this earlier today and it's making it much easier for me to come to terms with how he decided to go out. At his age he would've deteriorated very quickly from Parkinson's and wouldn't have even been the same person within as soon as a year. He probably decided it wasn't worth the suffering and that he was just going to get it over with. Still incredibly sad, but when someone has a life altering disease like that I can't blame them for wanting to avoid the immense suffering.

That's pretty much exactly how I felt about the news as well.

Well said.
