When I Grow Up I Want To Be....
 

I want to know what you wanted to be as a child/teen and what you want as a job now (you can either be working towards it or as a fantasy).

Edit: I want to know what people say you'd be good at. For me I have been told I would be a good lawyer or counselor. I don't agree though.

As a kid I wanted to be Cat Woman (wtf I know) but generally I wanted to be either a chef, pathologist but mainly a forensic scientist. Now I am passionate about software, SEO and running my own business (eventually). Obviously I'm still working on the dream but am not far off finishing my study.

I'm curious to see whether you guys are doing what you want to do. It doesn't matter what it is (from sex work to rocket science), it's whatever drives you and makes you happy. :)

As a child I wanted to be a librarian, just because I love to read. These days I'm unemployed but after a lot of dead end office jobs I finally found my calling working with kids and couldn't be happier.

Edit: I think most people would agree on me being a good teacher but i've heard social worker and psychiatrist too. Basically anything involving helping people.

Aww cool, I've been a librarian many times and it's such a great job. I'm glad you've found something you enjoy.

That or a Ninja or even better, a Ninja lawyer!! But no, i studied to become an assistant pharmacist and now i work at a little pharmacy in a supermarket.

My real passion is music but i never saw myself as a rockstar, i think i have a better chance of actually becoming a ninja lawyer than becoming a rockstar, i never thought i had something special to say to the world, as a musician i KNOW at best the kinda music i like to make would be locally famous and that's if im lucky and charismatic which im not.

Welp. I'm officially handing in my punk towel. It was worth it for that awful, awful joke I think. I actually did want to be a rock star as a kid. Either that or one of those dudes on those nature programs. As a teen I wanted to be an art teacher but now I have no idea. I enjoy cooking but it's a difficult way to make a living and for those who really do it, like, really really professionally and run their own legit kitchen and blablabla it's an incredibly demanding lifestyle. So, until I figure it out I'll just coast along with whatever gets the bills more or less paid until I can go back to college.

I totally had that song in my head when I made this thread lol.

That would be sweet a gig, you'd get to travel the world and have an adventurous life.
if it were me though i would take a different approach hosting, it would be similar to this one.

For years I wanted to be a teacher, then I wanted to be a therapist, and then I learned that I'm too twisted to be trusted to be either of those people.

When I was a little kid I wanted to be an archeologist or paleontologist or astronomer. When I was a pre-teen I wanted to be a writer or an artist or to do special effects for movies. When I was in high school I still wanted be a writer, and I also wanted to be a minister or a chemist or a musician or a graphic designer. I went to design school and did in fact become a graphic designer, though a few years ago I transitioned into web design then web development. Never dreamed of being a developer as kid but then the kind of work I do didn't exist back then. I still aspire to be a writer and people have always told me it's something I'm good at. I guess we'll see.

My dad told me that when I was a kid I said I wanted to be a fire truck.

At one point I wanted to be a baseball player who was a scientist on the side. Then I wanted to be a rock star, then in high school I wanted to go into sound engineering. After that I wanted to write, writing pushed me to journalism, and now I'm trying to get into PR.

When I was a 6-year-old I wanted to become a florist, from middle school on I wanted to be a teacher in the future.
Becoming a teacher would be nice, but not in a messed-up school system like the one we have right now.
I would be so grateful if I could study recorder and piano. Music as a study is a challenge for sure - no risk, no reward.

Wanted to be a writer or a lawyer... now aiming to become an accountant for quick decent cash. Hoping to become a tax attorney, mainly defense, in the long run still. Need to bring that atrocious freshly-graduated high school mistake of a GPA up first so I can finally qualify for some loans.

I honestly wanted to be a gangster as a kid. Thrived on the thrill of causing trouble, sociopathic and generally a ****ty kid to other kids.

Now, I just want to sail and master cruise ships but have a long long way to go. Still need to start my training as a coxswain in August.

That might not be a bad compromise for me actually. Keeps me out of the "normal" high stress lifestyle that one can't escape while living in the "real" world.

Yeah working on boats would be a dream. I wanna have my own and do occasional charter fishing tours someday, as a pet business.

You should do it. Being on the sea definitely washes away all that environmental stress. :)

Only thing I actually wanted to be when I was a child was a footballer, played to a decent level for teams from 5-17 but was never good enough.

I want to work in movies and I have for a long time. When I was really little I wanted to 'drive trains'.

Sounds easier than joining the Merchant Marine, which I vaguely consider for about two seconds every so often.

I kind of want to be a DJ of some sort now. Either as a resident at a cool bar or for hire at cool parties.

Would probably go with "DJ Goofle" if I were to reference my internet persona. :D

But I would worry that if I became really famous, people would find the absolutely ridiculous things I have said on the internet over the years.
