Ignore them Janszoon, its perfectly safe and the people are friendly.
Definitly make a gig and have a good stay.
Scars beat a t shirt, everytime and they're free.

To jump in and hijack this thread for a second, what about London? I've always wanted to see the UK so I'm going for a few weeks this summer, any good/bad areas to stay?

If it was me I wouldn't bother but then I hate the place and wouldn't care if a wall was built around it and filled with water, I'd spend the money on visiting the other cities, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle. If you like more old style then Cambridge, Chester, Bath, York etc.

The Gower Peninsula in Wales is stunning btw but it depends what you're looking for. Edinburgh and Glasgow are fantastic cities too.

Good areas of London are pretty much west and southwest London E. G. Fulham, Richmond, Kingston etc but will cost a bomb to stay in as will the centre obviously. East and South London are shiit tips, avoid.

There are many hidden gems across England, Scotland and Wales, look into those. London has its good points but we are the most capital-centric country in the western world and there is so much outside of London that goes unappreciated particularly Wales and Scotland.

Listen to CB repping Scotland, best place ever. Gonna be jumping this summer too with the Commonwealth Games and the lead up to the referendum.

I read they decided against blowing up those tower blocks in the end . Shame that, was looking forward to it .

Haha they're still gonna blow them up eventually, but they're just not framing it as an opening ceremony anymore cause that was pretty dumb.

Thanks for all the info. We're flying in at 9pm, checking in to a hotel then running out to spend a couple hours in the city so coordinating anything might be hard but I'll keep it mind.

But I have started looking into this list right here:

Best Bars In Manchester

Most of these places are pretty east to find and are really good from my experience.
Great list, thanks! Font bar definitely sounds cool.

Heh. I'm coming from Philly, I'm not too worried. Thanks for the advice on where and where not to go.

More to do with advice on the quality of night out, as opposed to your chances of survival.
Different areas, different vibes.
I second the places already mentioned by others. Have a good time.
