Has your experience here to date generally been negative or positive?

We've all had our run-ins, our fights, our shame of drama, times when we wanted to leave the forum and times when we wished others would. But overall, in general, do you view your experience here as a positive or negative one? Do you enjoy it here or just keep coming back not knowing what else to do? Are you glad you joined, or is it the biggest mistake you ever made? Do you look forward to coming here? Do you feel you contribute and are heard or do you wish for more of a voice?

How do y'all feel?

Cicatrice 05-02-2014 06:07 AM

Well, I've not been here even a week yet, but its been a positive experience. Seemingly a lot of very knowledgeable people here, and a lot of interesting discussion. Not nearly as much trolling, and spam as many other forums.

As for my contribution, I hope to one day make a bigger splash here. As of now though, I doubt I do very much. But I'm still new, and haven't done very much to earn that or whatever.

The Sane Psycho 05-02-2014 07:24 AM

My experience has been positive. This is easily the best place to discuss music, no matter what your taste is.

And Cicatrice, you will, don't worry. You're already starting to be a great poster.

Xurtio 05-02-2014 08:36 AM

Completely positive.

Sansa Stark 05-02-2014 08:36 AM

It's really weird the only people answering are noobs

Xurtio 05-02-2014 08:39 AM

My diagnonsense: it's not a complicated question for us n00bs. You hang out in any one subculture long enough and a question like this becomes more complicated and you have to be careful of passive-aggressive overtones, etc.

Plankton 05-02-2014 08:39 AM

For me, this place is like a playground, and I'm the salty old man sitting on the bench watching the kids play. I'll shake my cane at a whippersnapper once in a while, but for the most part I'm harmless.

Drama is a part of life, and some people are addicted to it. Plus the added phenomenon of some of the younger members trying to prove themselves, which tends to bog things down a bit. Meh. Been there, done that.

For the most part, my experience has been positive, since I don't take things too seriously most of the time.

Thats about as honest as I can be.

She's right, though.

I know, I know, I've been misunderstood before. Just being a smart-ass.

James 05-02-2014 10:00 AM

I'm willing to bet these results will be skewed because most of the people who have had a negative experience probably haven't stuck around afterwards just to give feedback. This poll just makes the place look perfect when it's not. Positive for me though, obviously. Or else why am I still here?

Necromancer 05-02-2014 10:18 AM

I always enjoy myself here at MB. I have made a handful of friends through the years and I just think the world of them all, I won't mention any names because they know who they are.
Other than that, I just never really take anything seriously on the Internet. at least in the sense that drama affects my day in anyway. I see drama and trolling by other members as being entertainment and nothing more. I don't believe in intentionally hurting someone's feelings on purpose, unless I'm provoked.
MB is the No.1 music forum on the net, and I'm glad to be part of the community.

Xurtio 05-02-2014 11:06 AM

It somewhat bothers me that there's this whole trivializing of human feelings just because it's a different communication media. I don't know what the rationalization is there. I mean, people say "don't take things seriously. This is the internet." but what they really mean is "it's ok for me to be an ******* because this is the internet."

To me, it's just a real as any other experience; I'm interacting with human beings. Their willingness to treat other people like crap is telling of their character, regardless of the nature of the media through which they do it.

Carpe Mortem 05-02-2014 11:13 AM

I dig this place. The variety of people, and lack of a major clique, makes it easy to fit in somewhere.

Lots of cool chill people to counteract the angry ones, cheers to ya!

I don't think anyone is suggesting its okay to be rude and obnoxious. Instead, its not paying attention to the ones that are.

I mean when the rude and obnoxious ones say that. I can appreciate the idea of not getting fired up by them.

Necromancer 05-02-2014 11:54 AM

The moderators take care of anything out of line, so... ;)

Engine 05-02-2014 09:12 PM

Undecided; still checking the place out

gunnels 05-02-2014 09:33 PM

I regret everything and I can't get out.

hate paper doll 05-02-2014 09:39 PM

Largely positive but I'm still new so I don't suppose I have enough experience to offer an educated opinion.

Damn right you can't.

Goofle 05-03-2014 05:54 AM

Only positive. Y'all are some really nice people and I probably owe half the albums I have listened to to people on here.

Isbjørn 05-03-2014 06:00 AM

Positive. The people on here are friendly for the most part, and if I hadn't registered here, I'd probably be a hardcore My Chemical Romance fan or something like that.

I hope people keep this in mind, of course. It's not a statistically sound survey, and we can always keep moving towards being a better community; every community can.

Janszoon 05-03-2014 07:06 AM

Definitely positive. I wouldn't have stuck around for seven years and volunteered to deal with the crappy parts if I didn't love the place.

It's been positive. I'm kind of under the radar and nobody knows me and I'm ok with that. Have heard some great music based on recommendations here and can't think of anybody I don't like off the top of my head.

I wouldn't count on it. I was a MCR fan before I joined in 2008 and I am one now in 2014.

GuD 05-03-2014 08:31 PM

There's some petty and small-minded **** that strolls around here once in a while but for the most part it's been swell. I've laughed, cried, and grew with some interesting people in the short time I've been around. Too bad you're all so far away.

Question: what is with the anal beads response being an option in every poll? Some kind of MB inside joke? Or just an immature joke?
It doesn't matter to me, as I find immature jokes to be hilarious.

Negative, but it wouldn't be worth it pointing to who and what. Despite that, there were a few people along the way that made it worthwhile to return, even though I've some of them have come and gone since I've joined MB.

Never thought I would see you engage in name calling Trollheart. lol
This is probably the meanest I've ever seen you be to someone on here, even YD didn't upset you that much.
