Mayonnaise, on the other hand, is not OK. I've always disliked mayo and can't even touch a sandwich or what-have-you if it has mayo on it. At least you tried to eat the sandwich - I would have gone hungry rather than eat the mayo. |

I have a friend who's a great chef and he's obsessed with mayo so much it's kind of a running joke in our small group of people, but he also puts Ketchup on his steak. I'm still trying to process that info and I've known him for decades.

Since he's a chef, maybe he makes his own mayo (which would be a superior version at least). Ketchup on steak I can understand, since it's often an ingredient in steak sauces.
There's a place I frequent here that has premade vegetarian sandwiches, and lately they've taken to adding mayo to nearly all of them - ugh! Only 1-2 sandwiches there are now made without mayo. Why, oh why? |

One lunch pre-covid, my friends and I hit up the local deli. They make amazing sandwiches the size of US footballs. The one time they mistakenly put mayo on my sandwich, it was drenched. I gave it to a coworker. He couldn't eat it either. He likes mayo, but the sandwich was beyond saturated. White sauces and I don't agree in a number of ways. My father loves telling me about the time he met my mom's folks. Their idea of a salad dressing was milk. I come by my dislike of white sauces honestly, because my mom hates them. Mayo in any form, I won't touch. Whether it's aioli, mayo, tartar sauce, etc, no thanks. I'll put ketchup on hot dogs, but that's it. I won't put any sauce on a steak, unless it's been burned beyond recognition. |

I used to be a ketchup snob. There are two French Canadian things ketchup doesn't belong on, in my opinion. Those two dishes are shepherd's pie (aka pâté chinois) and tourtière (meat pie). To each their own now. Oh, and Ryan started the fire! |

I'm no ketchup snob but it's not even good on a hotdog. Or any pork.

ketchup isn't good on anything but I'll turn this place into a pro-mayo forum if I have to ban each and every one of you

I'm sorry, Marie, but mayo makes me physically ill. Maybe you should create a mayo poll. I can't believe that some people even put mayo on chips (or french fries, as we call them here). ***shudder** Ketchup is only good on chips/fries, and sparingly. I don't eat hot dogs any more, but never understood ketchup on them. Red on red, lol. I have a friend who eats ketchup on eggs - the height of yuck! |
