It's similar to Marmite but much better (in my opinion, though I like Marmite too). The first time I had it it was in drink form, I tried it on toast after expecting it to be **** but it was very good. But yeah works a lot better with brown/wholemeal bread.

I'm pretty sure brown bread just meaning any variation of wheat.

Yeah, multigrain bread here can be a bit different though, in terms of variety. It can be more than several refined grains instead of whole grains.
