Obviously, my redditing is more of a functional thing than a wasting time thing. I always learn something new and/or help someone else out in regard to audio engineering or my job-related skills in the IT industry. It's quite a resource. People are knowledgeable and always willing to help others out. Great place.

I looked into the first one, r/audioengineering, and I can't believe the gall for someone to ask for the use a studio for free, offer nothing in return when they make it ... and to top it off ask for a fee to advertise the studio... unbelievable.

Band Looking for Studio to record us for free (Columbus Area)

We are a great rock band playing out regularly and are looking for a recording studio will to record us for free. This is a project that we will be making and selling CDs when we are done. we are also planning on selling online with iTunes etc. We would also be willing to advertise your studio for a reasonable fee as well. Our music is very poplar so we know it would help you. Our project could put you on the map.

Your studio has to be able to record live drums and amps. We would also look for you to be well equipped with good quality equipment like a few expensive mics. We want to sing into a Newman Mic if possible.

We are also trying to get a music video for one of the songs so we can post it on UTube.

We've got something like 12 songs so we won't need a lot of recording time. Most of the songs are around 4 minutes long so we can probably get them done in about an hour or so. Plus maybe an hour or so to mix. So I guess 3 hours will cover it.

When we go platinum you'll be happy you recorded us for free.

I like the matrix theory thread, amazing. Not really a subreddit but oh well!

Bump. Bwah. Hahah.

The Map Porn one is pretty neat. I like this map especially. Apparently, there's less than one goat per square kilometer here in Norway:

The Socialism subreddit is a favourite of mine as well.

I never actually understood what Reddit was so I never got into it. I still don't quite understand what it is.

I like the idea of Reddit but in execution it's just filled with the lamest dudes on the internet.

Isbjørn 03-19-2015 10:26 AM

The page layout sucks, but I think it's a pretty good place for finding links to stuff you'd be interested in.

What exactly is it though? I never fully understood the concept.

It's a place for sharing links (to pictures, or news articles, or YouTube videos) that people can comment and vote on. The ones with the most votes end up on the frontpage. Then there are subreddits, following specific themes, like /r/socialism, /r/politics, and /r/listentothis.

Ja, kind of.

Reddit is like the internet on the internet. Go there, search for whatever you can think of, and there is probably a group of people talking about it. I use it to find out about new games, and e-sports. The conversations come in 2 varieties: YouTube chat or useful information.

I'm still a bit new to Reddit as I'm more of an observer than active member, but I like the place in general let's say. In the future I may find my niche.
