I'm trying to stop drinking beer.
And start drinking Scotch. Single malt.
Recommend me something good but reasonably affordable. So far I've tried Glenfiddich 12 and I dig it. Maybe a little too light for me, but not by a lot. Before the alcohipsters jump in and start ragging on Glenfiddich, please know that I haven't developed a palate yet and I have my "Real Scotch V card" still. I have my eye on mostly Lowland/Highland stuff. Trying not to go full on Isley right now. Any thoughts on Auchentoshan Three Wood? How would that compare to Glenfiddich 12? |

I haven't tried Black yet, but I was planning on it because it seems to be a household name anyway. Any other rec's for blended? I do intend to also get some very high dollar stuff in both the single malt and blended vein either way, but I kinda wanna work my way there. |

Enticing label design too: http://cdn3.masterofmalt.com/whiskie...old-whisky.jpg |

Nice price too. |
Glenfiddich is great. I bought it as a gift for my parents one Christmas and it was delicious. I like Southern Comfort, even if it's lame it floats my ice boat.

BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET THE MORNING AFTER I DRANK 18 MIKE'S HARD LEMONADES............ That might have been a catalyst. |

Have you tried crack? :P
Man, I am into Gentleman Jack, and Johnny Walker Black and Red, on the rocks plz. But that's if I got **** on my mind and I got drinking to do. Pot. I recommend pot. Baked not fried, it's the healthy choice! |

First worst hangover ever was a f*cking crazy outlandish zoo-like experience in Romania. All I remember were many bottles of something called "Teachers". |

Obviously, I could just stop drinking so much. And since you know I know that and still haven't, well, there's your answer. |

One word; Islay. Laphraoig, Caol Isla, Lagavulin. If you're going to drink scotch you better fucking doing it right, peated out the ass and smoky as the devil's jizz.
|
Great recommendations in here. I'd like to second Dalmore. If you don't mind blends, DeWarr's White Label is on the cheaper side and has the added benefit of being a scotch you can find in most bars that won't bankrupt you.

WOW. I like this WAY more than Glenfiddich. It has a really nice smoky wood flavor. With 2 ice cubes, it still tastes great and balances out the harsher alcohol kick. I think I have a new favorite. And it's cheaper than the single malts. How does the Macallan 30 compare to JWB? |
idk if you have tried the Green Label Jack Daniels but far superior than the black label one that everyone likes to drink with coke.

I may move onto Gin next and I have taking a strong liking to cognacs. |

Now that I've discovered my taste for scotch, it works out well for me because I can just drink it straight. I've never been able to do that with other whiskey or any clears. I think I can finally cut down my beer intake with JWB particularly, because it has more flavor than the Glenfiddich and what I've been doing is just buying like a 6 pack of good beer and having a couple scotches, then following with a beer. Rinse, repeat. It really helps to spread things out for me. I did that last night and this morning when I woke up, I felt SO MUCH BETTER than I normally would. Because to achieve the level of buzz I'm used to, I normally have to drink about 16 high powered beers. Last night I drank 6 beers and like 4 very small glasses of scotch and I was good the whole night. It's quite honestly a godsend. |

To be honest, It's been so long since I've had Macallan's that I wouldn't really be able to tell you anything other than it's delicious. However I have a boxed bottle of JWB sitting on my end table. It makes for a great headphone stand. http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...8/IMAG0562.jpg |
I only read the title.
This is a terrible idea. |

Anyways, I started drinking Johnny Walkers Red last year and I've been enjoying it. I know there are better brands out there and one day I hope to try them, but until then I'll stick to what I know. |
I'm sitting here sipping on JWB, and I finally understand that phrase that people say about going black...

Also my JWB is no longer as well. Guess I'll finish off the rest of the Glenfiddich and buy a few bottles of JWB tomorrow at lunch break. Score. |
