I chucked out beef from my diet mostly, but pork is much more difficult. My problem is that I still can't really think of meat production as unethical (even though I know that mostly how the animals are treated is terrible). I eat loads of poultry and eggs and milk also so going full vegan will probably not happen any time soon.

Yes. I'm trying, which is futile. I need to just do it. My roommate offered to make me a BLT tonight after the Bills (and my fantasy championship) win. So I rather readily accepted the offer. (I was celebrating!) Hopeless.

I think the vegan diet is quite challenging so unless you come up with a very strong reason (like meat is murder and animal flesh becomes disgusting) it will be difficult. Why are you trying to go vegan, moral or health reasons?

Mostly health reasons. It's obvious that life requires the consumption of living organisms. The question then becomes what is really necessary to consume to sustain life? Mammal consumption is not necessary in the vast majority of circumstances in the (so-called) civilized world and is, more often than not, detrimental to human health. That fact should certainly trump the pleasure of eating flesh. It doesn't because we'd rather not think about what we're doing. And that fact is destroying the planet (or, at the very least, our civilization).

It is what it is.

It took me much time to get rid of this bad habit. And I succeeded only on the fourth attempt, but I took Chantix, which turned out to be helpful (you can read about it on the Canadian pharmacy site if interested).
You need a good motivation. Choose something you will do when you quit. A trip somewhere, for example. Also, ask friends and family for support. Mine helped me a lot as they controlled me and persuaded me not to smoke when I was about to start again.
