Does anybody here actually like pop punk enough to commit to that?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-23-2017 12:34 PM

you could always do themed runs. like for the first round everyone picks a post-punk album, then hardcore, then whatever. either way i’m down.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-23-2017 12:45 PM

considering the odds that there would be like 5 of us would participate i highly doubt anyone would take that much pleasure in arguing for the inclusion of green day and co.

also can i just say as someone who likes a fair bit of pop punk that green day sucks.

The Batlord 10-23-2017 12:48 PM

I mean 90s and beyond pop punk is kind of just pop with delusions of grandeur for teenagers, but before that it was just punk, no? I mean nobody would accuse Buzzcocks of not being punk, right? And there were plenty of other pop punk and pop hardcore bands in-between, so it's just the 90s/00s **** that is up for dispute. So **** all of you cause "Orgasm Addict" ****ing rules.

my argument was that punk is pop music to begin with but with a lack of production or professionalism

where as pop punk is seriously just pop music with a few punk cliches included

I think it's more to do with the musical culture that produced it, or else a Madonna album with incompetent producers could be punk. In other words, punk is music made by people trying to make punk.

Point ignored. Totally surprised.

...your vertical blinds are partially open, but just enough that the rims on cars going by look like they're standing still.

Not even a little bit high rn
