Yeah I don't think that's right. I believe it's just when you're poor but spend beyond your means on nonsense like cars, jewelry, and comic book omnibi. If it's the same as hood rich then nigga rich in my experience often denotes a temporary influx of money that allows one to purchase said items (e.g. you just got paid so you're hood/nigga rich).

This is more like new money rich vs old money rich. The difference between rich and wealthy pretty much. Rappers vs trust fund babies.
