That feeling when you go to the grocery store to pick up some spam, as well as picking up a beverage from the beverage rack, and without asking, the clerk puts the beverage on top of the counter. This is easily identified as a learned behavior, and as I've experienced, a rather ubiquitous one at that, which indicates to me that the majority of people want their drinks left on the counter, so the clerks have trained themselves not to ask.
TFW when you feel like the only one in the world who doesn't want their beverage unbagged. |

Test it. Next time you go, buy one of the cold drinks and see what they do. The drinks that are located in the impulse section when you check out. Those are the drinks I'm talking about where they do this.

50%?
It usually works like this: Person A enters, grabs a drink to sip on as they shop. Please don't bag that. Person B, grabs drink as they are checking out (usually with very few items) and puts it in bag. |
