Landmarks....

So I looked, and I see nothing on this...

As I was driving to the bank this morning, I was struck by the sight of a new church on a main road that appeared over night... And then I started thinking, well hell there are tons of bizarre landmarks all over the place... (Not that the church was strange... But my train of thought was...)

Got an interesting one in your town, country, or on your planet? If so what is it? Why is it there? And should it stay...

For example, in Worcester Mass there is one a statue of a man holding a turtle in a precarious position and the turtle is expelling water from his mouth like he is enjoying it... WTF?

There was one in the central valley by my grandmother's house that was this big ugly cement spike protruding from the earth. There was this rich man who hated his wife and adult kids with a passion, so he gave them theirs from the grave by making the design of the structure and stating that they had to use the entire family fortune on building that edifice in his will. And they did. And now it's a landmark.

Smallest working church in Europe possibly the world, made by a monk between 1914 & 1939. He never saw it finished. Decorated entirely of broken crockery. Can hold about 8 people.

**** ME! that is stunning.... is that marble or stones?

The predominant landmark during the first 40 years of my life

When this statue was unveiled in 1985 some had hoped that it would become an icon for the city, but it was just over 25 years later when a quirky sketch comedy cable show would take it's name and finally achieve some level of recognition outside the city

Wow! Breathtaking.

Designed by me, constructed by our company. This sits on the site of the Fire Museum of Greater Chicago, and was prominently shown in an episode of "Chicago Fire" ( Chicago Fire (TV Series 2012 ). Oh yeah... thats the Sears (whatchoo talkin 'bout Willis) Tower in the background.
