whats your closest near death experiecne

tl:dr for me:

tried to jump from a ladder to the roof of my 3rd story apartment. ladder didnt reach the top so i jumped vertically and sideways onto my roof and half my body made it onto the roof. had to pull myself up. i had been locked out and was tryin to go thro the attic window.

so i didnt fall but that was probably the closest. if i didnt make that jump i prob woulda broken a lot of bones, maybe died.

also smashed a car into a tree when i was 17 but wasnt hurt

whats your nearest death experience??

Clubbing in Belgrade is about as close to death as I've ever found myself, on two occasions:

In 2010, I got beer spilled on me by a crazy girl who thought I was trying to pick up her boyfriend, then a group of five guys started carrying me somewhere and I lost a shoe. Luckily my friend rescued me before **** got real. But I don't remember anything after the beer incident. I threw a punch and then got knocked out.

In November I was at a club there that was so full of cigarette smoke I could feel my lungs closing up. Then some guys with fire extinguishers jumped up on the bar and started spraying fog(?) to make the place even smokier. I couldn't see anyone and saw my life flash before my eyes. Then my boyfriend started passing me shots. Of course I was later in the bathroom hurling and noticed that there was already 2 inches of mysterious liquids on the floor. I thought dying might be better than that situation but I managed to survive.

Just weeks after my 5th birthday I was hit on my bicycle by a drunk driver.

The injuries were severe enough to rob me of my peripheral eyesight for the rest of my life.

Then there was the time in summer of '10 when I had to choose between hitting 2 deer and rolling the car I was driving, killing both myself and a passenger. (Luckily I only hit one of the deer - I managed to slow down to about 25-35mph, barely clipped the poor thing but still enough to kill, sadly.)

Also the number of times my ex threatened to kill me were enough to make me honestly believe that he would have done it eventually.

Not sure if this counts but I did something really stupid once and was convinced I'd contracted HIV. Was too scared even to get tested, kept it to myself and left it for ages (stupid I know). Played on my mind for ages & eventually I just accepted it and went, tested negative & can't really describe the relief tbh. I learned my lesson btw.

Few things abroad like being chased w/ a knife, also had a fall when drunk while fighting & hit the back of my head which could have been worse. Few nasty situations where I live, generally would say I've been quite lucky and long may that continue. *touch wood*

Spoiler for some tmi stuff nobody cares about:
didn't exactly help that public school decided it was a terrific idea to have an entire week where we all gathered into the auditorium to watch slides of bodies hanging out of cars and other grotesque shit, or that within the same year of almost getting myself killed my grandpa showed up on our goddamn doorstep in a drunken rage but yeah I guess that's part of it too. I have a pretty long-running hatred of drunk drivers/people who just generally shouldn't be driving at all.

no, my mother let him go.

Either because she was a kindhearted person (before she took a trip to crazytown) or an idiot.

It is hilarious how you can't spell the word 'experience'.

I loved those slide shows as kid/teen.........one of my favourite things is to jump on youtube and watch hour after hour of mad Russian car crashes

Had a few out of body experiences on psychedelics but whether people are really close to death in those moments, I don't know. Very, very strange though.

As kids, we set up this swing on a tree on a hill that swung out a good 30 feet over some huge boulders, it snapped when I was on it once, but luckily it snapped when I was swinging back over the hill. Had it snapped when I was swinging out I think I probably would have died.

As kids whilst on holiday in Egypt, my brother and I took out a little boat from a beach and rowed for miles into the busy port of Alexandria, we quickly realised we were in unsafe waters and rode as hard as we could to get away, but ended up rowing into an even busier part of the port. At one point we had a massive cargo ship coming straight for us but were too exhausted to escape. Thankfully a lifeguard boat came and pulled us to saftey with less than a minutes to spare. That was kinda funny, kinda scary. Pretty sure we would have been dead had the ship hit us.

In Israel, my then girlfriend who was Jewish and I went to Hebron. After a little while we noticed we were being followed by a few shady looking people, the people following us slowly grew in size and started throwing rocks at us and eventually chased us through the streets. By sheer luck while running for our lives we found a taxi which we jumped in and shouted "drive, just drive!". It felt like something out of a movie and was probably the most terrified I've been, they were full of hatred and it felt like they wanted to murder us, especially as an IDF soldier had been killed by an angry mob in the same city a few days earlier during the second intifada.

Again in Israel, a bomb went off in Old Jerusalem and, being young and stupid, I wanted to go to the bomb site and managed to convince my girlfriend we should go to the scene. We fought our way to the scene against hoardes of people all moving in the opposite direction, some in tears, and when we arrived it was all very quiet and very strange. We wandered around a bit and within a few minutes wandered straight into an angry mob of Palestinians. We turned around and started walking in the opposite direction, straight into a group of IDF soldiers. The next thing we know the two groups are attacking eachother, shots are firing out, stones are being thrown and we're smack bang in the middle of it, crawling around on the floor. Hairy scary.

I've almost drowned a few times when I was younger, I remember the first time being about 5 or 6 and thinking I still had my armbands on, so I jumped in the swimming pool. I remember vaguely thinking about death but I don't think I understood what it really was then but I knew something really bad was happening.
