Just because I happen to be active right now and reading this thread made me smile with memories:

I was 15/16 when I first joined, 23 now. So been around for 8-ish years.

Because I was so young (and female which I tried to hide actually to not have my opinions judged with that context), everyone initially seemed a lot scarier. I also think this forum used to be harsher which someone mentioned.

Big3killedmyraindog or something intimidated the living **** out of me. I always got nervous if I saw he responded to me, right track and urban also seemed like the super adults of the forum.

I remember Wendycal and Cory Allen annoying everyone and there was a lot of drama around the banning of them (why I never could figure out, seemed clear cut).

Kid named matious or something was banned and then came back a year or so later much more mature which I always respected a lot.

Savannah caused a lot of drama over her legitimacy as a contributing member. I think it was decided she was just hot? Not totally sure there.

Ethan was the popular kid. Everyone wanted to be his friend.

Aiddass also used to own some people, which was always interesting to see.

I think the forum got nicer when jackhammer joined, he was a good force, miss the guy.

I'm trying to remember other o.g members.

Murder-junkie I guess.

Oh and there was a guy who was super Christian that everyone loved to argue with. His name is not occurring to me though, but he got in some mean disputes.

Let's see what else:

The Bitch box and how was your day used to be THE social threads. The shoutbox seemed to eliminated their importance, but the shoutbox seems to have created some problems of their own, as is the nature of most solutions.

Oh and in terms of Lateralus, I think she might be the most well-balanced female I have ever met. I aim to be more like her everyday

Cardboard, yeah I went to high school with him. I always saw a part of myself in him that just consisted of this deep feeling of isolation and frustration with our surroundings. Never acknowledged that with him mostly because I never knew how and high school is super awkward. From what I know of what became of him is he dropped out of college with one semester left. He now climbs mountains and communes with nature, or sound, possibly rocks. He seems really happy though, instead of asking what is life he is more life is awesome. And I don't think you can hope for anything better from life.

Also how old is RT now? Im curious if my perception of him was correct at all.

Whenever tags became a thing on musicbanter was literally one of the most obnoxious days ever. I still don't get their purpose besides ironic posturing.

And the fall thread is still one of the best threads on music ever.

Is freebase dali still a person? Does Ethan ever write poetry anymore?

I feel like the people who came in with an open mind did better here.

I think because you had a really strong sense of yourself and your opinions. Also you weren't afraid to shut people down for being idiots. And you did it really well too.

As a 16 year old girl dealing teenage hormones and insecurities, I did not want to be that person.

I don't have those opinions at all now. But you just always impressed me with how assured you were of yourself. And again having real confidence is really intimidating to a 16 year old

Well I'm sorry to hear that. We ought to be friends.

This makes so much sense about the path that he would take in life. It's good to hear that he's happy.

Older than dirt.

Freebase is still around. I don't know if you were aware of him becoming a mod but he's still one.

Ethan, I have tried talking to him to get him back to posting again but he doesn't seem interested in posting much again since his clique isn't around.

Came in with an open mind and thick skin. This place was like the wild wild west back in the days and I know that it ruffled some people's feathers and they stopped posting because of how people were treated.

Well, it has been a super long time. And when I started on this forum, I was 14. A 14 yr old who loved epic metal, and was probably pretty ignorant to anyone else's opinions. I was pretty absent for a span of about 2-3 years. But im glad Im back and to see some of the OGs is still great. I remember one of the biggest things to happen on MB is when they implemented that posts in the lounge wouldn't add to your post count, as well as any posts you had in the lounge were taken off your count. Some people went down almost 90% their original counts hahaha.
