I didn't exactly completely brush through the non-music sections front to back but it seems like all the regular posters hang out at the lounge.

What's up with that?

I've long given up trying to talk about music on here, I just converse with people on facebook pages now. People here don't seem too interested about what I have to say, and they don't seem to be interested in the music I like. This used to be where I learned about new bands and such, but those days are long gone.

Well there are a few factors. It is easier to just casually jump into a lounge topic and post about something mundane.

Two. Music does get discussed but it is usually light conversations and it happens in Albums you are digging thread and What are you listening to now thread. Two threads that some people feel are the bane of this site and want to get rid of them which is completely stupid imo. The little music conversations that happen in there would die out and it wouldn't force people to create new threads. There would be even less musical discussion than what happens now.

Three. You might want to check the journals section. A good portion of in-depth music conversations goes on within that section but some people don't bother to look there because of lengthy journal entries. So they just look in the general music section, see that not matter threads are posted in and then think oh no music is being discussed.

Four. Some people like Alex has mentioned just aren't interested in some of the threads about certain bands that are available and when they create a thread about a band that they like they end up getting ignore because it's some niche obscure band that they love and not many others are interested in it. During the time that Alex loves so much there was a group of people that loved obscure, off the track bands and they all congregated together. Same thing with the Hardcore forums. There were a group of people that loved that genre and stayed mostly within that forum chit chatting about bands that they liked.

I see, so I've been lookin in the wrong places for the most part then. And most of my favorite bands are definitely pretty obscure. I skimmed the journal sec, def will check out after I veg out on the new Walking Dead ep.

Well you can start threads on them or use the search to see if there are threads about them already but don't expect loads of people to go flocking into your thread.

I just mean don't be disappointed if it doesn't get much response.

I can attest to this. I'll keep posting 'em anyway.

Don't look in the lounge for music discussion, look in the music threads for music discussion. It's that simple.

definitely feeling you there.

I was going to take a crack at the "your favorite albums from each year since you were born" or whatever and then I realized that I'm desperately out of touch with my own generation (seriously) and could probably name 5 albums from the past 24 years (at best) that I've really enjoyed (and they'd probably all be Sparks).

but I could rant for ages about the 60s and 70s.
