What Kind Of Person Regularly Posts/Lurks on Message Boards?
Describe what personality traits and life experiences that intrigues people into posting on forums. For example, are they loners? Are many of them struggling with mental and physical disabilities? Social contact online makes it way easier to make friends and not be judged for what you are in real life. Thoughts?

What's this "real life" thing you're talking about?

A long time ago I googled "music forum" and found this, was appalled by the snootiness I saw, and attempted to turn right back around. After a while I couldn't resist the trainwreck, snarky englishmen, and new music, and here I am. As for internal attributions you could make for that...perhaps musically adventurous pain-gluttons?
Also, to be fair the snootiness I perceived when I was thirteen did primarily stem from people making fun of Sum 41 so hey, you all aren't that bad.

Well, I like to talk about music and none of the people I know in a real life are interested in music.
Also, I think, it's good that you have a place where you post your thoughts and all but you don't know the other people. It's easier to talk when you're anonymous. That means these lounge posts. Also I think I'm a little bit lonely. Anyway, one reason why I post to MB is that I wanna develop my English and I thought that it's better to also actually use it, you know. Also forums like MB are good when you want to get some recommendations |

I think you've all missed the point of the thread. I mean if you were to describe the most common personality traits on any message board, what would that be? Not Music Banter specific. Like how you would define a hipster, but a forum goer.

forum goers comes in all types especially because there are different forums to accommodate different interests so it doesn't make sense to group them all into one personality type.

I go on message boards / forums for two reasons:
1) Because i'm bored and I need something to do other than gaming and Facebook. 2) Since I quite enjoy music, a music forum specifically seemed like a good idea. It would be the same if I were on a gaming forum, etc etc. |
