and of course theres a lot of niche jobs they can have. they could be a 'suicide girl' lmao. but no, really i mean tattoo artist or somethin, i mean theres lots of jobs that dont really care. one of the 2 other staff members who works with my client is a 45 year old biker gang guy with tats from his fingertips to neck and hes been in this type of work for 2 decades so i mean it depends on the employer obviously. but i do understand and agree with employers turnin away eccentric ppl. its the price ya pay so deal with it is what i say |

also just a problem with entitlement in this world. "i have blue hair and 10 piercings and neck tattos omg why wont Company X hire me? they are like so totally discriminatory!!" i feel this is the attitude of a lot of ppl and they just ignore the reality that their choices have consequences. some ppl have a hard time acceptin blame from their own dumb choices |

^ Yep, permanent, visible tattoos and piercings disqualify you immediately from about a zillion jobs. Wherever there is high unemployment,( i.e. every country in the world) most employees will go for the candidate with a conventional appearance. The hot barmaid is a good example of how important good presentation is.
I was once surprised when I worked in a bank and learned about their dress code: men, I was told, were not allowed to have beards or more than one day of stubble growth. You were permitted to have a moustache, but only if you had a job that didn´t involve direct contact with customers. So they´d thought it all out pretty carefully - and how about in your local bank? If you ever get served by a guy with a moustache, you could probably report him !

Yeah I gotta side with 216 here. When youre working youre working for that company. Everything you do represents them directly. You're not going to go meet a big client with piercings/face tats/bride of frankenstein hair in the same way you wouldnt meet them with sweat pants and a t shirt on. Presentation does matter. Thinking otherwise is strange to me. Especially talking about job interviews. That's literally all about presenting yourself in a way to get yourself hired.
Im not saying that that people with tats or whatever are automatically worse candidates (they might have all the credentials for a certain job) but if youre going into a big wig interview with a rainbow mohawk thinking that you arent putting yourself at a disadvantage off the get go then maybe you arent smart enough for that job in the first place. |

I've worked for some high end companies that wouldn't even let you in the door with a mohawk or face tat. It's all about selling your personal image, and if that image represents one of a radicalistic nature you're more than likely gonna be shown the door.
I'm in a position where I hire people, and would never consider anyone with those personal traits. Sure, a tattoo on your arm or similar wouldn't be bad but if it were a tie between two people with the same skills and one had a tat, the tie would go to the one without it, because they represented an image of sound judgment. Nothing personal, it's just good business practice to go low risk, especially with an investment such as employees.

a lot of times whoever wants the job more is gonna get the job. one of the first rules of job searchin is persistence. i called the place that eventually hired me 4-5 times ovre a few weeks to let them know i was interested and wanted to be there so when a final decision was made my name was already in their minds if ya show up for a job with a bunch piercings and purple hair..... you arent gonna play the corporate game and listen to superiors when ya cant even manage to look presentable on your interview. youre more selfish and concerned with bein unique than helpin the company. little story here. on the first floor of the place i live there are 2 fat lesbian lovers who live there. im pretty cool with one of them but she has a ton of piercings and constantly dyin her hair. so one day im runnin errands and see her workin on her car cause its broke down and offer to take her to the auto store for some parts. so on the drive shes complainin to me about not bein able to find a job and stuff and how she hates workin at little caesars pizza place. a week earlier she dyed her hair purple and pink lol. someone needs to slap some sense into those ppl |
