Default You and your teenage self

I'm assuming that most of us aren't teenagers anymore (and if you are, that's cool, you've got a lot to learn and live) and there are some things that really make us cringe about our teenage selves. If you could go back and tell your teenage self three things (consolation, criticism, encouragement, whatever you want) what would they be?

discipline. responsible. wise. (am glad my teenage years are over) being an adult is like feeling like an elderly.

I'd tell myself 'you don't know anything, so stop acting like you do'. It's a funny thing, but I find the less you know the more you think you know, and then when you do slowly start acquiring knowledge you realise you don't really know anything. It's one of life's little paradoxes.

I'd tell myself 'be kinder to those close to you'. I suffered from 'centre of the world' syndrome as an adolescent, was pretty selfish and self-absorbed and, truth be told, still am, be it to a lesser degree.

Finally, and most importantly, I'd tell myself to smile more and just enjoy life. I was too serious when I was younger, too concerned with being cool and all that rubbish. It might make you look like something in the eyes of others, it might get you laid, but the price for conforming is everyone likes you except yourself.

With those two you wouldn't even listen to your own advice that your older self is giving your younger self.

This thread is also the last question I asked in the MB Cafe that no one replied to

Enjoy some old videos from 2011 and then it kind of stops in 2012 and there are a few from 2013

Watch the first video to get an idea of how the thread works.

Honestly I think I'd have a lot more useful advice for my twentysomething self than my teenage self.

Three things? Okay...

1) Don't worry about not finding love. Stop looking and just wait, love will find you.

2) Stop trying to be so damn popular. Nobody likes band and orchestra geeks in high school, but you'll become much cooler in university. Don't base your self worth on the number of friends you have or don't have.

3) Pay more attention to your parents and the useful advice they give you based on their life experience.
