How would anyone brew tea with water that is lukewarm at best? Do the taps at your house run 212 degrees fahrenheit?

I will explain that I've never once seen anyone just pour hot tapwater in a teacup with a teabag in it, unless the next step was to put the cup in a microwave. I do see people pour the PIPING hot water from the spigots at Starbucks but those are CONSIDERABLY hotter than what comes out of a tap.

Having said all that, I'm a coffee drinker. I very rarely drink tea.

HOWEVER.....Like tea, coffee is primarily water. Therefore it must be a crime to put milk in coffee.

If your taps are 'lukewarm' at their hottest, you have a problem with your heater.

I take a measuring cup, put a cup of fresh water in it, microwave for a couple of minutes, then pour it over a teabag in a teacup.

So do you really think teapots are exclusive to every country except the US?

You don't boil water with a teapot.

The kettle is the thing you boil the water in. I have never seen anyone use a teapot in all my life.

We boil water in regular pots, or conversely in a pan because it heats up faster. The teapot is for keeping the water hot. Then you pour it over the teabag in the mug.
