I have met some pretty excepting neo Nazis in Oklahoma once.
Smoked a joint with them too...After they used their fair share of n bombs. To be fair it was dusk, and I'm light skinned. But after it went around five times and I told them I was black they were really nice. Go figure.

I'm a liberal, so I guess democrat is the closest option. A Utopian society would be based on liberalism and that is the direction I want to strive for.
Historical trends would dictate that we are becoming more and more liberal around the world, which is progress. When you reach further back in history, you can see a trend in dictatorship where few are in power and the majority are nothing but sheep. This is an old tradition that is considered conservatism albeit to the extreme. At the time this was efficient because education wasn't an institutionalized thing, so people needed a higher authority to organize their lives. That's the ideal scenario, more often they are under the influence of a dictatorship against their will. This is obsolete now and we can totally become a better world by lessening enforcement and letting people live with more power and freedom. That is my philosophy until I'm convinced otherwise.

^Yeah, mixed definitions, but ambiguous. I don't remember thinking liberal = communism.

Well if this helps this is where my understanding comes from. And I'm pulling some open ended definitions All liberal and conservatism is, is a philosophy on how society should function.
Liberal: Individual rights, freedom, and equality. Yes there will be government enforcement for equality, but it's only to make life fair. Conservative: Retaining traditional values. This typically means strong central rule, as history would dictate. Basically, conservatives follow the adage, "if it ain't broke don't fix it". It ensures stability and a predictable future. Liberalism is as I understand is striving for a utopic state where we reach the maximal equilibrium between individuality and minimal government enforcement. Ideally if citizens are "well-behaved" no government enforcement.

OK, so I'm going to do a revision. This is my source that'll refer to.
What is the difference between a liberal and a conservative Roxy, you are right about conservatives based on how our founding fathers define it. Conservative in general just means to retain. So with my second opinion. Liberalism: Everything here sounds good, but because of human nature it can be a harbor to slobs. This doesn't have to be an issue if we can instill widespread motivation. I do like the underlying philosophy here, to make life as balanced as possible. Equalizing badly dealt cards so to speak. The obvious downside I can see from this is human imperfection conflicting on the system. People simply aren't easily motivated acting outside of their personal interests for the greater good of the community. Conservativism: Is like Darwinism. There is no government support, the economy is strictly capitalist and if you fail to pull your own weight you are met with apathy. Which I don't agree with because your settling in a world of winners and losers. It is practical in a motivational standpoint. The tough love is a great disciplinary tool to discourage slackers. As a matter of fact if we were all conservatives, a homeless person can die on the spot on the street with no one being held liable. We are humans though, not animals, we can do better than that. Conservatism is something we got to outgrow at some point. It's saying we have no credibility as a community, so let's just let the suckers hang themselves and let the blessed ones thrive. Too apathetic for my taste. I think we can all agree Liberalism is better in theory, but conservative methods are just easier to implement and accept immediately. At the end of the day I'm liberal. Liberalism is the end game. Conservatism is just a practical rest stop for now. I'm an idealist I can't help it.
