Mother's Day & Sibling Rivalry
My brother bought my mom a car for Mother's Day so I might as well throw my gift away b/c I can't top that

Yeah, I agree. It is literally the thought that counts. Is your brother close to your mother, or is he maybe trying to "buy" her affection? What's your own relationship with her? Mother's Day shouldn't be a contest (my own mother has passed on) but a chance for you to show how much she means to you. A mother won't measure the value of her children's gift by their net financial worth, but by what they mean to her, and to them. She'll love your gift; any mother would love two sons, or daughters, equally, whether one gave a box of chocolates and the other a holiday, or whatever. She knows you both love her.
