Not so talented friend...

Gah. I'll be joining a very intensive BA in music program next year, I'm super exited for it :)
BUT: My best friend (who can't sing to save her life...) wants to join too "because it'll be fun to do it together". How do I convince her not to join? I don't want her to be in my ensembles! Not only is she not suited for this program, she obviously doesn't see this as seriously as I do... I need this BA for my career advancement, not to play around. :nono:
Help!
:bonkhead:

Well I dunno if I would tell her she needs tapes for the tone deaf... because that might hurt her feelings... and letting her join and crash and burn would really hurt... only you know how tough she really is... maybe try hinting subtly...and see where that goes...

If she's that bad wouldn't that mean she probably won't get accepted anyway?

djchameleon 05-10-2013 07:46 AM

Maybe she's good enough to get accepted but bad enough to torture her friend.

RoxyRollah 05-10-2013 07:52 AM

that's just wrong....

BA's are awarded to individual people not groups so I don't really see what you're complaining about. If she's not good enough she won't do it and if you are you will.
If she's just doing it for a laugh she'll soon realise it's a mistake.

I know how you feel; my dad and husband are tone deaf...

Yeah... Kinda hoping she just won't get past the auditions, and if she does I'll seriously re-consider the validity of the program.
