I have a story somewhat related this. On february 22 2011 I was at home during the day which is in the city centre. The house used to be a maternity home. It was 1.40pm and I was getting up from my bed and computer to grab my handbag to go pick up some milk from the dairy at the end of our street. Just as I was going to leave I hear a video call from Skype on my computer which I left open, it was my friend from Dunedin so I put down my handbag and answered the call. At 1.51pm a massive earthquake hit and my house managed to stand by its foundations and everything I owned fell to the floor. I managed to get out my room once it was over and was safe. Basically if I hadn't received that call on Skype I may have been killed as the dairy was completely flattened to the ground.
