Having an accent isn't bad grammar though.

True.. but justifying the bad grammar or pronunciation of that accent while criticising other ppl's grammar is pretty stupid

Dude, it isn't. An acronym is made of the initial letters of a group of words (like AIDS for example). "ppl" isn't that.

Awesome thread, lol.
There's a lot of slang in Toronto that is similar to American slang, and especially slang from upstate NY or Detroit because they are fairly close by. But some words that are apparently unique to us: Down South (used in most of Canada I think) = The U.S. The rocket = the subway. Takitish (I hear this a lot but never use it myself) = Take it easy. Washroom = the bathroom/restroom. Bathroom is also used but not as often, and restroom is almost unheard of here. We also don't say "toilet" or "loo" because they're considered very rude. Wheels = a car. If someone is referring to the actual wheel or tire of a car, they'll say "Tire". There are others but I can't think of them right now. It's an abbreviation. An acronym is something completely different. |

We say water funny as well but it is more "waat-ir".
I'm so memorising pimp in Spanish so I can use it in daily life.

I've got a few that are pretty normal around here:
Up north: Referring to the west coast (Washington, Oregon, and California) Transit: Any type of bus, cab, or trolly that gets you from A to B. Not just for busses. Soda: Referring to any soft drink. Sort of like when other people say coke. |
