In my case, it was just cutting out empty calories, finding the right amount of fat/carb/protein intake for my lifestyle, and not being completely indolent. Granted, this takes longer than crash diets, but I was pushing 200 18 months ago and now I'm 158, so there ya go.

How tall are you?

People relate weight with health way to much. Body composition is what matters. You could weigh 300 pounds at 5 foot 8 inches but it you have low bodyfat and mainly muscle then it is in no way unhealthy. Someone could weight exactly what they are supposed to and not look fat but actually have a super high BF% which is just as unhealthly.

5' 10"
I realize that weight is a poor indicator of health, but the thread topic deals with weight loss alone, not ideal body types. I never claimed to be particularly healthy.

The weight you are at actually sounds ideal imo for your height.

This is me. I've always been kind of stocky but my bodyfat flucates between when I let myself go and when I get back into working out. I had a personal trainer that gave me shit for plateau'ing around 300. He pissed me off so much with that. I was in way better shape and could carry the weight better than when I started. I had more muscle and with all the cardio I was doing. I was damn sure healthier than when I started with him. I'm like this guy is a dumb motherfucker if he doesn't realize that my bodyfat percentage is lower and I'm healthier than I was before. He was convinced that I was eating shitty food and that's why I wasn't losing weight which wasn't true either. I don't regret much in life but I definitely regret paying him any money.

Well it's great you didn't crash diet! It sounds like a really healthy way to loose weight.

I have increased my mineral intake such as magnesium, vitamin c and d, protein and I'm eating healthier meals. I just started doing swimming once a week and I hope to build up my strength so I have less pain in my back.

Burn more calories than you consume? I dunno. I'm underweight.
