Horrified..

That there are individuals preying on exasperated lazy women to quit their coffee habit.... An abomination to suggest that this cultural staple of grinds is suggested a mere 'HABIT' to be kicked...

I made it almost a minute through that. Then I got some coffee.

I didn't even glance at it. I love coffee in all its fantastic glory.

1. I am, after all, from Seattle
2. What *should* I be drinking?

PoorOldPo 03-06-2013 02:12 PM

Man juice!.....wait that sounded gay...

MILK!

Exo 03-06-2013 02:32 PM

I've never been a slave to coffee and I never will. I have something better that will eventually take my life one day...

SMOKING! YAY!

Trollheart! We can't drink tea! It's a symbol of British Imperialism! You have to ignore how good it is!

Recent observation of mine is that tea lovers are usually boring and have productive lives. Weirdos.

Madam Butterfly 03-07-2013 10:34 AM

Herein lies my issue. I only drink decaf and certain people say I'm a flake as the point of coffee is the caffeine. I just like the taste of coffee but can't take caffeine in any form. Discuss...

I have drank it before. Can't tell the difference at all. I was on a creatine cycle for 6 weeks and wasn't supposed to be drinking coffee at all and someone in the house had unintentionally put real coffee in the decaf jar and I drank it unknowingly for about a week.

I like coffee, the feeling of drinking a hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning and feeling the caffeine kick in and the warmth of the coffee in your empty tummy is lovely :)

Madam Butterfly 03-07-2013 01:06 PM

I actually think I'm allergic to it...makes me feel wierd

I only drink coffee when I have to, like when I am under pressure in Uni. whenever I visit my English friends, they force me to drink litres of tea/ herbal tea every day.

Screen13 03-07-2013 02:31 PM

For me, it's Tea (Black and Green usually) and 100 Percent Juice. When it comes to juice, I will not touch that crappy "Juice Drink (20% Juice...or possibly less!)" stuff. It's 100 Percent or nothing!

I can understand people who drink Coffee, knowing that freshly brewed and hot will get the day off at least with being awake, but I don't drink it myself.

LoathsomePete 03-07-2013 03:15 PM

I'm at the point now where I don't really feel the caffeine anymore, I just feel the world becoming normal. It's kind of hard to describe, but after at least 3 cups before noon for about 10 years now, its become a necessity. I tried kicking it a few years ago for a Substance Abuse class project but relapsed within 2 weeks. I know it's an addiction but considering I've kicked smoking and excessive drinking, I'll take my wins where I can. The only thing I dislike about coffee is having to whiten my teeth every couple of months.

Trollheart 03-07-2013 05:24 PM

Yeah. Beware of drinkign too much coffee!

Edit: here's the whole thing, though it's in Spanish or something and for some reason everything is backwards! Too much coffee, say I!

LoathsomePete 03-07-2013 05:31 PM

The only people I've ever seen who act even remotely like Fry from that Futurama episode are people who don't drink coffee on a regular basis.

Heh Heh I'm only kidding because a nice pot of jasmine oolong a day takes my feeling of wellness to another level.

Thom Yorke 03-08-2013 06:21 PM

I love coffee and have it every day, but I'm not reliant on it whatsoever. I just love the taste.

When I don't have access to it, I don't have any problems. It really doesn't seem to have much of an effect on me. I've never found that it really helps wake me up if I have it in the morning, and it's never affected me by keeping me up at night.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-08-2013 06:59 PM

They say that an apple in the morning is more effective at waking you up than a coffee is. But I drink it for the taste.

Trollheart 03-08-2013 07:04 PM

I prefer a Windows PC, personally!

Paul Smeenus 03-08-2013 11:43 PM

I live in Seattle. I think it's against the law to abstain from coffee here.

I have only 1 hard, fast rule about coffee, that being that it must be brewed within 5 minutes of being ground. I buy whole bean coffee and grind exactly enough to brew a small pot that yields two 20 oz. mugs. If I've had hella short sleep (5 hours or less) or if I'm on a long drive (Seattle/Portland fer'instance) I might brew a second such pot, but that is rare. Typically the one pot/two mug per day is the end of my coffee consumption. Unlike alcohol and weed I can stop once I've started.

Janszoon 03-09-2013 05:54 AM

I'm always amazed by the popularity of coffee. I find it pretty disgusting honestly, can't even stand the smell of it.

I like the smell, but yeah, it tastes like a liquid cigarette. Tea is vastly superior.

Another great choice is to use beans which were only roasted no more than 20 days before you grind and brew. For the keeners... heh...heh..h.e.h..
Source your beans and use slow drip - whole new world..

I hate the smell. The absolute worst aroma to be around when you have a hangover.

Most places serve sh*t coffee. Again, if the beans were ground more than 5 minutes prior to brewing it loses it's flavor rapidly. How anyone can buy and drink a 2 pound can of pre-ground Folger's or MJB or whatnot is quite beyond me.

Tea has a lot better "hang time". Esp. herbal tea.

Really? It smells like heaven to me. If I smell coffee I instantly desire it. I get a little orgasmic when I have a Moccona. Moccona heft mer mmmm....
