The biggest misconception people have about me is that I don't have women walled up alive inside my bedroom. Heh. Just joking. Really. No, I am. What? No of course you can't come in to search my room! I don't care if you thought you heard moaning! Look, just get off my property, will you?
Seriously, I don't think anyone has any misconceptions about me. I'm pretty open, what you see is what you get and there are no real hidden layers. I don't try to construct an image of myself for others, I let them make up their own mind about what sort of a person I am. Now, if you'll excuse me, my ladies need attending to...

I work with a lot of people who are over 50, and the biggest misconception that I've noticed from them is that all youth to understand these new fangled devices. Often times people from other departments of the main office come to me to ask me how to fix their phones, iPods, or other computer problems.
My boss once asked me instead of my manager, who takes care of any technological issues in the office, how to complete a function in a program that only our company uses. I'm new to the program and don't know how to do much of anything on it, mostly because I have limited access to loan information being an intern. Whenever I tell someone who believes that everyone under the age of 35 is fluent in all technology that I don't know how to help them, they look at me as if I'm lying to me. I think that's the worst part.

I think for me is the assumption that I'm some big, tall, shaven headed nutjob. It just came to a head when I went to a comedy club with the wife last Sunday and the act picked on everyone in the front row except me. All I got was "I might be stupid but I'm not suicidal".
Come on, I'm actually a nice laid back guy that just happens to look like he's constantly angry.

That I'm a dumbass who gives a sh1t and acts like a smartass.
When in reality I'm a smartass who doesn't give a sh1t and acts like a dumbass. Or something. Also, apparently my relaxed/daydreaming face looks somewhat angry/not happy. This scares people. |
