The problem is, this is the same as if someone should announce they're homosexual upon meeting them. Sometimes those things don't come up when you meet someone. She was probably really interested in you and wanted to be polite, so she figured she would keep it from you until you guys got to know each other more. Which is understandable in her case because it probably isn't the easiest task to find guys that won't judge her right away. She was probably scared.
