What's your real name?
Everyone, including me, uses handles and usernames here, and that's fine: anonymity is a good thing on the internet, as is an alias. But as we all get to know each other a bit better I think it might be a bit friendlier if we knew each others' names. Obviously I'm not talking about surnames, but I've seen people refer to each other by their first name, and I was unaware that was that person's name.
So if anyone wants to let us know what your real first name is, feel free. Mine's Deryck, as anyone checking my extended profile on my control panel will be able to see. Of course, some/many/all may want to remain anonymous and that's fine, but for anyone who'd like to say what their name is I think it might be nice not to have to refer to someone by their username all the time. Maybe it's a bad idea, I don't know: just puttin' it out there, as they say...

My name's Christophe. I've made mention of it before, but I think it was just in the shoutbox.

Thanks guys.
Fluff/Martin, no-one says you have to be called by your real name, not in the least. If you're happy with your username and want people to keep calling you by that name no-one's going to stop you. But it's in the case of some names, like say Big Ears, who said his name came from a rather cruel incident when he was at school, or Unknown Soldier, who apart from being too damn long to type so keeps getting called US, I talk to a lot and it would just seem friendlier to use his real name, if he is okay with that. No pressure on anyone, no rules or even guidelines. I'll still call you Fluffy and Frownland the same as I have always, and Exo will always be Exo just as Urban could only ever be Urban. It's just nice to know, I think.

I often wondered if it was actually Bob, or if it was an acronym. My uncle was called Brendan O'Byrne, but everyone knew him as Bob. Everyone. Even his wife.
Odd, innit?
