good. So hard to find people nowadays who don't think they need one. Honestly, I understand their use but people just act like they can't function as humans without them.

HTC One M8. I love this phone. It's fast, it's reliable, the display is crystal clear, music sounds great on it and it looks good. It's everything I need in a phone besides teleporting and a destructive laser beam.
Sony Xperia M2. Work phone. I only really need it if I'm on-call or if someone in work wants to contact me, otherwise I rarely use it. It's a decent enough phone but not one I'd have as a personal phone.

I've had one Samsung (Galaxy S2 which was a flagship and shit hot for it's time). Battery performance wasn't great and the build quality wasn't either (they have sorted this out now) but other than that it was good, though once I moved onto a Nexus (4) I knew I wasn't going back to a Samsung. The only issue with the Nexus 4 was the screen size (I like large screens for video watching/easier to type/read) but I've got a 6 now and it's perfect, no complaints. Nexus phones are fucking rapid btw. Camera might be slightly better on the current Samsungs but it's a non issue really, Nexus ones are still very good, slightly slow when it comes to focusing in low light. If you shop around you should be able to pick up a 64gb Nexus 6 for under £300. The 6p is £450+. |

Feature-wise, my priorities are the basic call/text, music (Spotify, Last.fm, etc.), Kindle, email, web browser, and decent audio/video recording. Anything else is a bonus. But the more indestructible the better. I've got about $200 Canadian to start with, but I'll probably be getting a job soon to add to that, plus my parents will be chipping in some.

Also cos of the screen size, some people don't like anything over 5 inches. But there is the Nexus 5X as well which is 5 inch. Quote:
There are loads for music but I use Google Play Music at the moment because I have a three month trial, you can scrobble to Last.FM with the app. All of it is fine. Media player - VLC Email - Outlook app Browser - Chrome Re: build quality/looks, unless you're getting the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/S6+ (so the current models basically) the Nexus will come out on top for this. The new Samsungs are probably nicer to look at but they have glass backs so RIP your phone if you drop it. Quote:

Edit: glass back can be sorted by getting a hardcase cover. As for Google Play, it won't. Not on my phone, and I'm told Android in general has a problem with it.

To be fair I was going off the presumption that it would be inside a case. There were enough reports around the time of the Nexus 4 suggesting design issues with the glass back and I know someone who dropped one inside a case from waist height getting into a car (I never smashed mine tbf), but either way it's no surprise Google dropped glass backs after that and if you want something indestructible or as close to, it seems illogical to opt for glass over metal or plastic.
EDIT: + factory reset might solve your issues with Spotify/Google Play, or updating the apps if they aren't already. Is it running the latest available version of Android? Last edited by Cuthbert; 01-03-2016 at 06:12 PM. |
