They crop up on Judge Judy from time to time.

This guy has a similar style (showboat). Much weaker competition, but still cool.

Fight starts at 2:55

One cool thing about those gypsy fights is that they don't end until one fighter concedes. Two men stand around fighting for hours sometimes. And they capture it all on video in order to show their families who can't attend because a gathering of too many people will attract attention of the authorities.

Then families taunt and challenge each other with videotapes they send back and forth to each other. That one guy who won the fight in the clip I showed was a dominating force for like 20+ years. In the film he keeps swearing that he's given up fighting. But then somebody's brother or cousin or son challenges him so.. what's a guy to do?

In the film they call themselves "travellers" and, in any case, they're a lot like Brad Pitt's family in Snatch, which was the first, and only, time I'd even heard of these people until I saw Knuckle.
Wikipedia tells me that there are 10,000 to 40,000 of them living in the US. Weird.
Yeah "pikeys" is more of an English offensive term for them, here people usually call them "tinkers", "knackers" or more officially "travellers". The problem with the term "gypsy" is that it's a broader term and can refer to other gypsies such Roma gypsies from mainland Europe etc.

I've seen Knuckle a couple of times and it is a very accurate portrayal of what goes on with these families. One of the families featured in the film, the Joyces, are originally from my home town and these are not people you would want to even think about messing with.

Another guy in the film actually killed his wife not so long ago:

Okay, I'll reserve my use of the word 'gypsy' for those other people I know from European train stations and films like The Man Who Cried and The Way.

Also, that article doesn't say that Michael killed his wife! Is that what is assumed?

Sorry I probably shouldn't have posted that article as it doesn't mention it, but he was charged for it later:

Oh wow. Well, it makes sense as the guy was portrayed as a person who was often driven insane by his own rage.
It's kind of ironic that the picture they used of him in that article makes him look like a crazy bare-knuckle badass when in actuality, if I recall correctly, he trained hard for that fight with the fat guy for months and still lost handily.

Woah, which guy is the one that killed his wife? The guy who was center focus of the video?

This one's probably old but good:

No, his younger brother. They were both featured heavily though.

These guys probably don't even realise their own strength so all it takes is a fit of rage and the damage is done, whether they meant it or not. They'd probably kill me with one punch.
