Imagine you are in a room with no doors. The walls are made of smooth, solid rock with no places to establish a firm grip, no weak points to break through, and no windows. The floor is made of plexiglass, also with no breakable points, and below, about 200 feet down, you can see nothing but lava. The roof is made of regular, breakable glass, but it is 500 feet above you. You can see that on the other side of the glass is a room filled with water. However, it looks like the roof will hold unless you can somehow come in contact with it to break it yourself. Regular physics apply (ie. gravity exists and is holding you down). You are provided with nothing but a 30 foot long rope, and a pair of regular household scissors. How do you get out of the room safely?

You say "You can see that on the other side of the glass is a room filled with water", is that referring to the roof? Is the room above you filled with water, and you can see it through the glass? |

Is this a proper riddle, ie does it have a logical, workable solution, or is it like the man who eats the calendar to survive, ie eats the dates? In other words, is it a smartass funny solution like "use the scissors to cut yourself some slack" or something like that? Or has it a real, proper solution? And have we been given ALL of the pertinent information?

Lol looks like this has hit a roadblock so I'll give it to wiggums. Sort of on the right track. The answer I was looking for was to stop imagining yourself in the room. You're using your imagination to work yourself out of the room, so I guess that can kind of be considered an extension of that.
