The 2012 Music Banter User Awards: NOMINATIONS!

Welcome to the event you've been preparing for since you weren't nominated the last time it was on: The 2012 Music Banter User Awards (The Nomination Round)! We've had a lot of great and sometimes questionable people come and go this year, and here's your chance to say what you feel about them. The awards will be a bit different this year, to maximize the amusement and streamline the awards, so please take a moment to read the guidelines below.

The Nomination Round will run until December 10th to give all participants time to alter their nominations, and all the stragglers an opportunity to have their say.
You may nominate up to three people for each category. You may nominate fewer people, or nobody at all if you so desire, and honourable mentions are welcome.
To be eligible for the final vote, a user must be nominated three separate times.
Please write a brief explanation about why you selected the people you did for each award; a sentence or two about why they earned it. This is about recognition, so let's recognize!
Please keep your nominations confined to one post. You may edit this post until the deadline, and you may post to inform people that you edited your post, but collecting data from a hundred different comments is a nightmare and I may hang myself before the month is up.
Please no butthurt. This is all in fun, and we have some negative awards that previously, everyone has managed to take with a laugh and a grain of salt. To help minimize potential butthurt, please be mindful and don't be too big a dick when you post.
You may not nominate yourself.

P.s. This is the final list, I took out a couple and added a couple. If more people wanted no negative awards I would have removed them but at this stage there was not enough. Let's try not be nasty and play fair with all of the categories.

Sexiest Member (male) - The male member with the most sex appeal.
Sexiest Member (female) - The female member with the most sex appeal.
Most Inane - The user who is most vocal about all the dull and irrelevant moments of their day.
Angriest member - The bitterest member, a cynic who often responds with hostility and bitterness towards new and old members.
Biggest Drama Whore - The member who most often surrounds him or herself with drama.
Nicest member - The kindest member, always makes an effort to treat people well, with respect, and to be nice.
Best debater - The member who's best at discussing and communicating intelligently and effectively.
Worst debater - The complete opposite. The member who's presence in a discussion is usually the most disruptive
Best Writer - The best writer on the site, whether they are writing a review, a summary of their day, a rant and everything inbetween.
Biggest Virtuoso - The member with the highest level of skill with an instrumental ability.
Smartest poster - The forums smartest member.
Funniest member - The member with the best sense of humour and who often makes you laugh.
Best Mediator -The member who is best at controlling arguments, limiting negative behaviour but keeping the discussion fair, on-topic and interesting.
Biggest Troll - The member who's presence anywhere in the forums is most disruptive
Most Improved Member - The member who's somehow improved the most in his or her behaviour on the site in the past 12 months.
Most Underrated Poster - The site's biggest underdog - someone who's positive impact on the forums is generally underappreciated or often goes unnoticed.
Most Obscure Music Taste - The member with the most varied or obscure taste in music.
Best Music Taste - The user with your favourite music taste this year.
Biggest music nerd - The member who's most knowledgeable about music.
Best Thread Starter - The member with a consistent habit of making throught provoking threads that manage to bring the community together in healthy, lengthy topic of debate or discussion.
Most Missed Poster - The member who's presence on the boards you missed the most in 2012 due to their long periods of absence or inactivity.
Thread of the Year - Your favourite thread created or popularized in 2012.
Best Journal - The best Members Journal.
Moderator of the Year - The member of the mod team who has helped to moderate the site the most in 2012 and who's work and efforts are the most appreciated.
Best new 2012 member - The best new addition to the site in 2012.
Member of the Year 2012 - The overall best member of 2012. The member who we love, appreciate and respect the most.
Biggest Lounge Lizard - This person makes their presence known in the lounge and is here to mingle rather than discussing music.
Member you'd most like to meet in real life - The person you fancy meeting to maybe have a drink with, date or a quick shag!
Member you'd most want to avoid meeting in real life - The person you'd rather eat dirt than meet for whatever reason.
Biggest Wanna-Be Moderator - The member who abuses the report button, sucks up to the moderators and is constantly instructing new members to abide by the rules.
Most amusing Shoutboxer - The person who consistently amuses you in the shoutbox, perhaps coming up with great one liners.

Best avatar - Sparky - the dog with the bow on its head (made me laugh everytime I saw it)
Sexiest Member (female) - WWWP because:

FETCHER, Pedestrian
Nicest member - Vegangelica (unbelievably nice; seems to put a lot of thought into her posts and will respond to pretty much everyone)
Biggest Virtuoso - Arkeologists Norman (I guess he counts? One of the better new producers out there)
Smartest poster - TheBig3 (seems to be pretty expressive but always seems to have something intelligent to say)
Funniest member - Sparky (because he's funny? Doesn't seem to take himself seriously)
Best Mediator -Janszoon (respected by everyone so it's almost easy for him to mediate in any situation)
Most Improved Member - PoorOldPo (signed up last year but didn't post much outside the art thread. I remember putting him down as the most enigmatic last year because of that, and I'm glad to see he's stuck around and expanded into other areas)
Best Music Taste - Goofle (don't like everything he likes, but I think it's a pretty close match for the most part), Sparky, Loathsome Pete
Biggest music nerd - bob. (I'd try to explain my choice but it probably wouldn't do it justice)

Best Avatar: Exoskeletal, or sure. Just look at that picture with the smoke and the eyes and the mysterious awesomeness. It's perfect.

Sexiest Member (Male): Gotta go with RVCA for this one. Dude makes me jealous with those smoldering looks and magnificent beard.

Sexiest Member (Female): I've always thought that WWWP was good looking.

Most Inane: Franco Pepe Kalle. Is there anything else that needs to be said?

Angriest Member: Urban Hatemonger? It's in his name. He mongers hate.

Biggest Drama Whore: GuitarBizarre. After reading his posts, it seems pretty obvious that he looks for trouble. I've had several nice conversations with him, so it's not like I hate him or anything, but he's kinda out to get... everyone, I guess.

Nicest Member: VEGANGELICA. She's basically kindhearted to everyone on the board. She's especially warm and welcoming to the new members. She really stands out amongst the bitter sarcasm that is typical with most MBers.

Best Debater:

Worst Debater: Norg. If there was an award for "Worst Member of the Year" I would nominate him in that category. The guy sis the most pointless, terrible poster we have.

Best Writer: Janszoon. Not only was his last journal the best writing I have ever seen on these forums, his new journal looks like it may surpass it.

Biggest Virtuoso: Plankton. He's a really, really good guitarist, and makes all of his own music. It's good stuff.

Smartest Poster: Tore. He's a Scientist. And based on how intelligent he seems in his posts, I'm pretty sure he has a doctorate in everything.

Funniest Member: Franco Pepe Kalle. Although it's all unintentional, he has some of the most quotable, hilarious posts. He's one of the only posters that can make me legitimately laugh out loud.

Best Mediator:

Biggest Troll: Hip Hop Bunny Hop. Half the time he seems sincere, half the time he just seems to want to start something.

Most Improved Member:

Most Underrated Poster:

Most Obscure Music Taste: Frownland. Musique concrete, the freest of free jazz, drone, pretty much anything that makes people uncomfortable.

Best Music Taste: A tie between Janszoon and Goofle. Literally anything either of them post is pure gold in my ears.

Biggest Music Nerd: Bob. He knows about more out-there, obscure, foreign, unknown (or a combination thereof) bands or artists than almost anyone else on the forum. At first I wrote him off, because honestly, I find his writing style to be a bit immature, but he knows his stuff.

Best Thread Starter:

Most Missed Poster: I was already considering it, but now that we know for sure that Howard the Duck/Il Duce has died of a heart attack, he deserves the award, for sure. He was absolutely insane, but I enjoyed his craziness, and I'm gonna miss him.

Thread of the Year: WWWP's Member Picture Gallery. This thread. This thread is the most brilliant of all threads, ever. Ever.

Journal of the Year: Unknown Soldier's "A Hard and Heavy History." It's pretty much one of the most well-thought-out, research-heavy, intelligent music-based journals I've ever read, not even just on MB.

Moderator of the Year: Pedestrian. She puts so much effort into making this place fun and enjoyable for the rest of us! Also, she put hats on all our avatars. That wins brownie points from me.

Best New Member 2012: Rjinn. She's integrated herself so quickly into the community it's like she's been here forever! Also, she's awesome.

Member of the Year 2012: I really like PoorOlPo and mojopinuck. Both for their personalities and for their taste in music (plus, Po makes crazy good art, which is always okay in my book). I mostly just wanted to nominate them for something or another, and I'd already filled up the other slots with other people, so I'm nominating them both for Member of the Year.

Biggest Lounge Lizard: FlyingPig. He only posts in the Your Day thread.

Member you'd most like to meet in real life: Frownland again. We seem to have a lot in common, and I've probably had more conversations with them in the Shoutbox than with anyone else. He's just a cool dude all around.

Member you'd most want to avoid meeting in real life: Hip Hop Bunny Hop again... honestly, I think that if we tried to hang out we'd just end up in a shouting match. Or maybe not.

Biggest Wanna-Be Moderator: Trollheart. Despite the fact that this award seems negative, I don't view it as such. TH is always reminding members of the rules, and generally making sure that the forum is well. That's good in my booK!

Most amusing Shoutboxer: It's gonna be a tie between Hermione and Forward To Death on this one. Both of them are really fun to banter with on there.

I'll be back with more later, when I look around the boards and think about it some more.

It's all good hehe guess it depends on perspective. Sure you might write about a lot of relatively mainstream styles but you address the lesser known artists or the songs that were never released to the masses, essentially your bringing light to the obscure side of the mainstream or something haha

Plus I seem to recall that mini review thread being all over the place both stylistically and geographically.

Is there anything else that needs to be said? Angriest Member: Urban Hatemonger? It's in his name. He mongers hate. Biggest Drama Whore: GuitarBizarre. After reading his posts, it seems pretty obvious that he looks for trouble. I've had several nice conversations with him, so it's not like I hate him or anything, but he's kinda out to get... everyone, I guess. Nicest Member: VEGANGELICA. She's basically kindhearted to everyone on the board. She's especially warm and welcoming to the new members. She really stands out amongst the bitter sarcasm that is typical with most MBers. Best Debater: Worst Debater: Norg. If there was an award for "Worst Member of the Year" I would nominate him in that category. The guy sis the most pointless, terrible poster we have. Best Writer: Janszoon. Not only was his last journal the best writing I have ever seen on these forums, his new journal looks like it may surpass it. Biggest Virtuoso: Plankton. He's a really, really good guitarist, and makes all of his own music. It's good stuff. Smartest Poster: Tore. He's a Scientist. And based on how intelligent he seems in his posts, I'm pretty sure he has a doctorate in everything. Funniest Member: Franco Pepe Kalle. Although it's all unintentional, he has some of the most quotable, hilarious posts. He's one of the only posters that can make me legitimately laugh out loud. Best Mediator: Biggest Troll: Hip Hop Bunny Hop. Half the time he seems sincere, half the time he just seems to want to start something. Most Improved Member: Most Underrated Poster: Most Obscure Music Taste: Frownland. Musique concrete, the freest of free jazz, drone, pretty much anything that makes people uncomfortable. Best Music Taste: A tie between Janszoon and Goofle. Literally anything either of them post is pure gold in my ears. Biggest Music Nerd: Bob. He knows about more out-there, obscure, foreign, unknown (or a combination thereof) bands or artists than almost anyone else on the forum. At first I wrote him off, because honestly, I find his writing style to be a bit immature, but he knows his stuff. Best Thread Starter: Most Missed Poster: I was already considering it, but now that we know for sure that Howard the Duck/Il Duce has died of a heart attack, he deserves the award, for sure. He was absolutely insane, but I enjoyed his craziness, and I'm gonna miss him. Thread of the Year: WWWP's Member Picture Gallery. This thread. This thread is the most brilliant of all threads, ever. Ever. Journal of the Year: Unknown Soldier's "A Hard and Heavy History." It's pretty much one of the most well-thought-out, research-heavy, intelligent music-based journals I've ever read, not even just on MB. Moderator of the Year: Pedestrian. She puts so much effort into making this place fun and enjoyable for the rest of us! Also, she put hats on all our avatars. That wins brownie points from me. Best New Member 2012: Rjinn. She's integrated herself so quickly into the community it's like she's been here forever! Also, she's awesome. Member of the Year 2012: I really like PoorOlPo and mojopinuck. Both for their personalities and for their taste in music (plus, Po makes crazy good art, which is always okay in my book). I mostly just wanted to nominate them for something or another, and I'd already filled up the other slots with other people, so I'm nominating them both for Member of the Year. Biggest Lounge Lizard: FlyingPig. He only posts in the Your Day thread. Member you'd most like to meet in real life: Frownland again. We seem to have a lot in common, and I've probably had more conversations with them in the Shoutbox than with anyone else. He's just a cool dude all around. Member you'd most want to avoid meeting in real life: Hip Hop Bunny Hop again... honestly, I think that if we tried to hang out we'd just end up in a shouting match. Or maybe not. Biggest Wanna-Be Moderator: Trollheart. Despite the fact that this award seems negative, I don't view it as such. TH is always reminding members of the rules, and generally making sure that the forum is well. That's good in my booK! Most amusing Shoutboxer: It's gonna be a tie between Hermione and Forward To Death on this one. Both of them are really fun to banter with on there. I would have thought I have the least obscure musical taste of just about anyone here, in fact, had the category suggested "Most mainstream music taste" been included, I feel I would have won that unopposed!
