Music Banter Voice Exchange

So I was just thinking ( it might be s ****e idea, I dunno ) that some people on here might not be comfortable posting videos of themselves on here. And I also realised that there are a lot of people here from different parts of the world, so I thought it would be fun to exchange how we say things and share how we say things.

So like..... if we all read out a small passage or something....of words, whether its a quote or a poem or just something you wanted to say, go for it. I have this website here we can use, its called Vocaroo, literally just record whatever you want and link that to this thread.

So I guess I will just start with this random list of words I pulled out of some crevace on the internet.

Aunt, Roof, Route, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Pajamas, Caught, Naturally, Aluminium, Tumblr, Crackerjack, Doorknob, Envelope.

Here is the website.

Here is my attempt. Sorry for the laughing.

Go for it!

Sounds fun, but I can't really do it at the library. I liked your 'pecan'; all I ever hear is <p-khan>

Plankton 06-02-2012 06:48 PM

I could post something of me singing, prerecorded... I'm kinda lazy, and I have a link. Otherwise I'd have to hook up a bunch a stuff. Ok, maybe I will... stupid beer...

...where's my shop vac... crap!

WWWP 06-02-2012 07:32 PM

Ah, there's nothing I enjoy more than the sound of my own voice. I'm game.

I'm not totally sure how that's so different from this...

I love your voice Wolverine!

Freebase Dali 06-03-2012 04:12 AM

I could do something like this, but "aluminium" is not an American English word. American English actually changes the spelling to "aluminum". We don't mispronounce "aluminium". There is an actual word difference there. It's not about pronunciation, like a lot of British folks believe. Our word for it is precisely ALUMINUM.

Then say it the way you say it in America!

Might do a little before and after my voice coaching at some point. Still working at sounding female. Some of the courses are real great.

You say "que-pon" just like my mom's family. I've consciously made the switch to "coo-pon."

I like the way you say "cracker jack." I'm not flirting, honest to God, you just say "cracker jack" in a strangely charming manner.

Really? I don't think I sound anything like O'Brien, but I'm not complaining if you think I do! And yes, 'gnarlins' is really how I say it, albeit I haven't always said it that way, just since assimilating to Texas 10 years ago.

Trust me, my friend, if you come to the US the ladies will be all over you swooning for that accent you have.

Interesting. Let me ask you this. When you look in the mirror, is there anything there or is it just like a red haze?

lmao, I don't think I've ever heard that one before. I don't really have a lot of opportunity to say "cracker jack" however

It's like "crackajack". It just sounds classic 30s American, like you'd hear it in an old gangster film.

FETCHER. 06-03-2012 03:39 PM

God, I hate the sound of my own voice but I might do this to when I get a chance to jump on my dads laptop. It'll be interesting to hear some new voices :).

Y'better! I'm looking forward to hearing that Gasweigan accent of yours!

Burning Down 06-03-2012 03:55 PM

I'll do one too. I've already posted a couple of videos in the cafe thread, and also one somewhere else. You know what my voice generally sounds like if you watched one, and I know there were more than a few people who said it was sexy and all of them were guys, haha.

Fix'd

Frownland 06-03-2012 04:23 PM

I forgot to turn it on so there's a few seconds of silence at the end.

Yeah, haha, tis completely strange hearing American people on tv say Uluminium.

That recording of my voice is quite tame compared to how I sound when I actually talk to other Irish people. Ye probably wouldn't understand me as well, haha.

Ah right! I knew I recognized its distinction though, I am quite familiar with the Chicago accent as well. Gotta few friends over there right now actually since yesterday.

I don't think I have the most attractive voice. It's very hard to listen to. And here I want to be teacher! Poor students will have to listen to that all day!

You, sir, should get a job narrating audiobooks or something. You have a great radio/narrator voice. :)

I'll try and do one of these myself when I have a minute.

Never heard that before! Thanks Janzoon! :)

FETCHER. 06-06-2012 05:42 AM

WWWP's voice is so lovely and girly. Exactly what Jans said, I more or less expected you to sound like that. Anticipation has an awesome accent too. Americans.

Burning, you sound soooooo Canadian it's unreal. I don't even know how or why people get Americans and Canadians mixed up.

Oh gawd.
Vocaroo | Voice message

If I also had to say 'water' like that in front of my friends. I'd probably get stabbed.

edit: I immediately regret this. I have a shit voice and accent.
