I think I'll do the same experiment with upstate New York at some point. Ironically, we got into that convo kinda similar to yours, Exo. There's a new guy working for the college from California and he kept trying to explain to his friends where Rochester is and the only replies he could get was about how they've never heard of a borough called 'Rochester'.

But yeah, it sucks when the place you live has a reputation solely based on one place/preconception.

Without looking at this thread I would not have known any off hand. Geography is my least favourite subject of interest.

I could name a lot of places in upstate New York. But then again, we get all your TV stations and I live close enough to have heard of these places anyways.
