My favourite decade? In the 70s it was the 70s. In the 80s it was the 80s. And so on. How can I like the past more than the present? Memories more than actual existence?

Well I imagine Aushwitz prisoners probably prefer the thirties to the forties.

Yeah, maybe. Tibetan Buddhists, depite currently being under Chinese occupation and opression, despite having their culture and way of life slowly eradicated - in other words despite having an easier time of it in decades gone by, they supposedly prefer the present because they realise that only in the present do we exist. And it's not a concept exclusive to Buddhism, many other religions and philosophies believe in the power of the present.

But I'm not sure this Vietnamese Buddhist shared the same philosophy:

Even though I grew up with 90s and 2000s music, my favourite decade is the decade I was born in, the 80s!

That's probably because it's too recent. Enough time hasn't passed to the point that we can look back on that decade with nostalgia yet.

The 90s. As a kid, all I really cared about was Pokemon, Mortal Kombat, Monday night wrestling, and...

Agreed. Music-wise, there's great stuff from every era - however, I would say that because of the modern accessibility of recording equipment/ promotional tools, then there's probably a wider variety of music currently available to consumers than in previous decades, as artists can cut out the middle man and directly provide for their audience via the internet. Recording, being now a computerised process, is much easier to achieve in a non-professional capacity.

However, the question was simply: "what's your favourite decade?" not "what's your favourite decade of music" and so I definitely have to answer the present one: I like my life at the moment. It's pretty awesome. ^_^

I'm a big fan of the decade we're living in right now.
