What does everyone do for a living these days? What is everyone's 5 year plan? Does anyone have qualifications do you have and do you use them in a job currently?
I have a BSc in Statistics and Geography, a Post Grad Certificate in Antarctica Studies but don't use them yet for a job as I want to be a Data Analyst and had to know SQL Query to get the role. Because of my love of computers I decided to get a Diploma in Software Development so I can achieve my first goal but then I have the option of being a programmer too. My 5 year plan is to have a mid level role in either profession and a pay packet of 80-90k. I want to also have travelled a couple of countries too. Right now I feel a little over studying but I only have a few months to go.

Chemistry student here, witha sprinkle o' geology. Still doing undergrad - 5 years is pretty hard for me to predict, but I'd like to get a masters in materials chemistry. Academia seems so familiar, but i feel like R&D could be cool too.

Well right now I'm just an office clerk all around, haha, but my 5 year plan in terms of my career is to get my Bachelor of Education in teacher's college, get my foot in the door with the education system here as a elementary music teacher, and then go back to school a little after that to become qualified to teach in a high school.
My ultimate goal right now is to be a high school teacher, teaching mostly music but also some politics and history. My "10 year plan" includes finishing my BA in Political Science (already halfway there), and get my Masters in Music Education and possibly a PhD. Of course, life can change in a flash so I'm not pinning all my hopes on achieving those goals 100%, but it's good to have a road map in terms of your professional and academic life. I will also continue to teach flute and guitar privately as well as do private music tutoring in theory and history. |

Right now I'm in my third year of full-time teaching and in five years time there is no way my pay will be anywhere near that in fact it's pretty impossible for a primary school teacher to earn that so my 5 year plan does not involve anything to do with making a lot of money... In 5 years time I will be 30 and will have been teaching for eight years if I stay in the profession. I guess my plan is to become stable enough in my career to be able to take time off to have kids or some boring grown-up **** like that. Thirty years old... yipes! |

Currently I'm studying Sports & Fitness at college and fully intend to become a personal trainer during the week and an outdoors sports coach (wall climbing, snowboarding, mountain biking, some general adrenaline sports) at the weekend as a hobby. Right now while I'm at college I'm still working as a lifeguard/swimming teacher which requires me to have a qualification for each job, as a lifeguard I am part of the Royal Life Saving Society and have coaching certificates for teaching aquatics. I'm currently pursuing a job in a private gym that my mate works in, so I can get my foot in the door of the fitness world.
In 5 years I want to be pretty settled with a steady boyfriend, have travelled the parts of the world I desire and have a pretty steady job. I want a nice fast car (perhaps an older fiesta, have such a soft spot for older cars) and I want to have the money to fuel it so I can beast pretty boys in their dad's Audi A5's. And I want a crosser to play on because they're great fun. Fuck yea.

Why would you want to marry some old guy when you were about to die?

I'm a Swiss Army Knife.
CAD Manager Senior Designer IT Manager Marketing Director We make fun houses for Fire training. 5 year plan - I've been doing this since 1991, and have worked for some major companies in the industry, so I plan on branching out on my own and starting my own company at some point but who knows, the guitar/band thing may take off some day.
