T-shirt's with graphics on them should only be tolerated if (1) it's something you're overly obsessive over or (2) it's an old shirt. Otherwise it's just in extremely bad taste.

Other trends that annoy me: white sunglasses, baseball caps with the flat bills & stickers still on them, and hoodies with repeating graphics.

Regarding footwear; I usually stick with black boots with steel toes. They're functional, safe, and indiscreet. I just wish more companies made extra wides.

Indiscreet? I'm not sure I understand how that word would apply to a pair of boots.

If you saw someone walking down the street in a pair of these

As opposed to these

Who would you be more likely to look at?

Oops. **** that prefix; I meant discreet.

EDIT:

On the topic of boots; I can not emphasize black enough. Browns are godawfully ugly, and any unusual colour (white, red, etc.) is too loud, unless you've some fetish for running about looking like an 80s skinhead stereotype.

Its really hard to remove yourself from marketing influence and brands etc. In my linguistics course focusing specifically on advertising the prof talks a lot about how most advertisements and brands really hit us on a subconscious level beyond our control, and because our minds are always naturally mapped to be curious about finding meaning (and being pretty good at it) in everything its really hard to not be influenced because we do this naturally. Like when we see an advertisement for a nice family driving a car, on some level we will associate "nice family" with "this car", and for many peoples they may think I want to have a nice family (or I have a nice family) this car seems right. We may not explicitly think this but its hitting us. Its not to say that this is necessarily mind control or anything but it shows that we are bombarded with so many advertisements and trends that we can't critically process all of them so naturally we are all being persuaded to some degree beyond our control since we can't be critical of every image we see.

Like even the fact that mr.dood had to point out the fact that he is not like other people shows that some influence was there already (no offense I actually think its really awesome you do whatever you want and put some extra effort into making a choice that many people don't think about). Vevangelica on the other hand haha shes on a totally different world (one totally awesome cool one).

Surprised this thread went three pages with no mention of these abominations.

I'm with HHB on the dorks with straight billed ballcaps with stickers still on them. I'd also like to give a shout out to visors which always came acrossed as a half ass hat.

Crocs make you look like you stole the shoes of a Dutch clown.

I've always thought that these look ugly as hell. Why would anyone wan't to wear these? I had to wear these when I was in army but why would anyone wear these voluntarily? Just asking..

Long leather jackets weren't cool when the Matrix movies came out and they're not cool now either

I agree with the running shoes being ugly. They're good for running but they don't look good.
Brogues look nice. I own a pair of these:

I actually have a pair like those although I haven't worn them in over a year. Not really sure why I bought them but they do go well with any colour t-shirt and they are as comfortable as hell to wear. But yeah I have no real desire to wear them anymore.

Everybody can wear what they want but for some reason these pants annoy me. Maybe it's because I really disliked the time I spent in army and actually the whole concept of "army"
