Well, I must say that I feel like a bit of a knob posting the last half of these awards. It just doesn't seem fair. That said, it's very moving for me to see acceptance into a community that met my joining the staff with "Who the hell is that?" If you don't mind, I'd like to launch into a long-winded and cheesy spiel of thank yous to the people who've inspired me to do my best in the last year, starting generally and working down to the personals.
Thank you to the moderator team. The vast majority of the work we do isn't seen by the community's eyes, and this is because we work quickly and efficiently. These people are on a constant watch maintaining the quality of this forum, eradicating spam and mediating disputes. They are so fast at these tedious tasks that I often find myself left in a thread that's been dealt with already by three people. We couldn't ask for a more attentive team, and they're all legends in their own right. Thank you to all of the hosts of our various compilations, clubs, and wars. I will not name you in fear of missing someone, but your contributions and work provide an active environment for this forum to thrive in. Please keep up the good work! I know it's disheartening to work so hard for so few, but the forum would be considerably less rich without you. Similarly, thank you to all of the regular (and sometimes) contributors of our clubs, wars, and comps. YOU are the reason our clubs succeed and go on to generate discussion, YOU are the reason the hosts do the maintenance, and YOU bring all of the content to the husks of ideas we present. In particular, I want to thank the loyal members of our General Music Club, who I see every month participating in some aspect of the club, keeping it alive and worthwhile. You're what make this club the most successful running album club. Thank you to Team Mumu who, until the site recently became a steaming pile of crap, have joined me on many evenings delivering discussion and recommendations. I sorely miss these sessions, and hope that the site becomes stable enough for us to resume them in the future. In particular, I want to thank Jack and Stu for bringing the highest quality of discussion and content to Mumu; You know I won't join without you, and I'll clamour for a spot if you're there. Thank you to the staggering number of people I never thought read my journal but do; and thank you for not commenting, because I would surely collapse upon myself in stage fright if you did. The award for Writer of the Year comes as a huge surprise to me, and is possibly the most meaningful award because of that. When I started this journal a year ago, I was afraid that my content would be all aesthetic and the writing vapid, leaving opinion to be desired. At some point in the last few months, I turned to writing for myself more than anyone else, and to see that received well is an honour I never anticipated. I probably wouldn't take the time to read my own rambling posts, so I thank you for doing so. And now for some brief, but personal thanks (bolded so you don't have to read it all) to the individuals who's contributions have meant the most to me. To Freebase Dali first of all, for being the very first person to see something in me that could give back. Without you I wouldn't be a moderator, outright. Similarly, thanks to Mojopinuk, who fought hard for me to be a part of the team, and was my first friend here at MB. You have been the single most supportive individual here and I won't forget it. Thanks to Conan and Nonsubmissivewife for listening to me on days when it's all become a bit too much. Thanks to Engine for being a non-judgmental bulwark of sanity, you bring out the logical philosopher in me. Thanks to Unicr0n, my obsessive, analytical lastFM buddy. You let me ramble about music, and you don't get frustrated with me when I send you unintelligible drunken messages. And thank you to Unchained Ballad, who is the male, Portugese me, and never fails to make me laugh or listen to my absurd ambitions. TL;DR Thanks Music Banter, for making me want to work hard, and for taking me in. |

Yes, but it was discussed that the rules would change, because the three-vote system was predicated on the assumption that everyone would use their allotted three nominations (they didn't, most people only choosing one nominee). Under the original rules, it was impossible for me to generate a voting pool of more than three people, if I was lucky.
