Well, it fell to me this year, and this is how I chose to do it. Not everyone knows enough of the members to come up with nominations. Not everyone wants to make their thoughts public. Additionally, the pool of nominations is ****ing massive. In some categories, like Most Missed, I swear I had more than 30 people nominated. If you think it makes sense to have a 10-user-tie amongst 30 nominations for the final win, then you can do it that way next year, but I think it's necessary to screen the nominations down.

The nominations are so we can A) Get a pool of people to choose from for categories and B) express our gratitude towards users for their contributions. These are narrowed down by frequency of nomination, then there are votes so people can reconsider, vote anonymously, or have a bit of a say if they weren't comfortable nominating.

If you like, someone else can do it next year however they please, or we can scrap the awards altogether because they're more or less an annual Spill Your Guts. :)

Been there with this. It's a real ballache!
I'm not criticising, but the second it stops being fun is the moment it starts grinding to a halt.
Best to keep it quick and simple.

It's definitely time consuming, but it's for the sake of getting as many people in on it as possible.

I suppose I feel a bit defensive, because if anyone should be complaining about the awards being a pain in the ass, it's the person running it. I'm not having a problem managing them, and I'm not exasperated with their output, so as far as I'm concerned I see no problem.

No problem then. Use a dartboard. Looks good from this end. http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/r...ide_999/hi.gif

There are those sites that allow you to set up free online polls. Maybe we do the nominations here, and then use one of those sites to vote? I wish I could remember the one I used in a psych class a few years ago, but you had to give a name at the end of the poll, so that you couldn't double vote.

It might not limit the nominations, but it would make the final total much easier on whoever does it next year if the nominations are not limited.

The nominations weren't really limited, and most people still only offered up one person at a time anyways.

With two days left in the vote, I've made an executive decision:

We're all going to be happy with the ties, because the more people who get applauded, the better. :)
