I don't really have anything to add to the list, but...

It would be nice if this year it was focused more on the nominations and people explained their reasons for choosing the people they do, and actually make the thread interesting to read. Rather than just a list a bunch of names that are counted up to become a boring bunch of statistics like last years and the year previous.

I agree with this, and will specify in the nominations thread that people say a little something.

This should be about celebrating our userbase. I didn't get the feeling of that last year.

No, I wouldn't say so. Someone who's mysterious isn't necessarily someone who you wish posted a lot.

Regarding best new member must that person have joined in 2011? Because if a member joined in December last year they wouldn't have been in with a chance of being nominated during last years awards.

Also Thread Of The Year sounds pretty good to me.
