I don't think I'd really consider Venetian Snares IDM, but if you want some good IDM I'd say look not further that Kid 606.

Yea, being that VS is technically breakcore, I'd say the IDM tag that usually comes with VS is because of the way people use IDM as a relation to "wonkier" (for lack of a better term) styles of electronic.

Honestly, it could be argued that the same effect is at work when people term electronic music as "Techno", although with perhaps slightly less ignorance driving the tendency.

I've only heard one or two of his EPs, years ago. I don't own any, either.

True dat yo. But I'm telling you: check out Kid 606. Kill Sound Before Sound Kills You is a great album.
